Had the brake booster, and sun visor wiring recalls done today. Dropped my GC off at 8 a.m., picked up a loaner, and they called me at 12:30 to say it was done, with my free oil change. Went over everything with a fine toothed comb, and all is well.

This recall is beyond frustrating. My 2011 with 70k miles has been in 3 times. The first to diagnose that I need a shield. The 2nd to put the shield on. The 3rd (yesterday) because I'm convinced the booster is slowly going bad. So it passes their leak down test (less than 40 millibar drop in 55 seconds -whatever that means) but from my experience the booster is not holding pressure. It started with a hard pedal at startup while parked overnight. Then it was a hard pedal at startup after several hours. Now I can run into a store and have a hard pedal after 30 minutes. I really don't want this to happen while going 70mph on the highway with my newborn in the car. The dealer says it's completely normal. I argue that it wasn't always like this. They argue that the vehicle is getting older and it could be something else. So what is the something else?? They couldn't find anything else wrong. So I have Chrysler involved and hopefully they do the right thing and just replace the booster. I agree it might be fine today but I feel as though it is compromised and will fail at some point.

Had it done at Gary Miller in Erie, PA. The tab comes over the front of the booster, but the crimped seam is covered. I can feel behind it, and I don't see how water will be able to find its way into the booster. I have to admit, the picture of yours looks terrible. I wouldn't be happy with that at all.

You do know that if the ends of the tabs are not flush with the front of the booster, the shield can't do its job effectively. Especially since it looks like you live in the rust belt. Take it back and have them READ the recall letter and do the proper install. Otherwise its still a gamble of when it will rust and then lose the vehicles vacuum boost.

Is the part for the shield?

That "kit" part # is for the foam shield & 2 master cylinder mounting nuts, don't know if you got a new booster as well..... failed would indicate your old booster was bad. What else does the work order or invoice say?

It looks like they just did the kit but the brakes are much firmer...not sure how but they are.
