Re: Sand blasted after 1 month of CO winter driving

That's one of the reasons why I got the splash guards. After driving it for a week and seeing how much spray that area gets, I installed the splash guards and problem solved.

Oh and Goo Gone won't remove scratches, you'll need to claybar that area.

Thanks, but really ... I know, and have always known that Goo Gone will not remove scratches. I originally thought that it was some type of residue, thus the Goo Gone attempt ... All of this is in my post.

totally understandable, i had some scratches i thought i could hand buff out and it did nothng. waited for warmer weather and used my buffer and they vanished. they are certainly going to come out, it is just always scarry taking a buffer to a new vehicle lol

Re: Sand blasted after 1 month of CO winter driving

this is a problem on all Grands from 2005+++ The fender flares are just designed that way. Its the Grands look. I suggest good sealants and wax...but its just gonna happen....

Re: Sand blasted after 1 month of CO winter driving

After sand blasting my last car (Lexus IS350) with a lot of highway miles I had a clear bra put on the WK2 a few days after picking it up.

Re: Sand blasted after 1 month of CO winter driving

Invisible Mask sells a protective film for this area. They call it the Splash for about $40. I installed it and looks like it will cover the zone enough.

See this page and scan down:

Re: Sand blasted after 1 month of CO winter driving

I think I'll just buy a roll of 3M film for about the same price. That way I can cut it myself (before application) and will have enough to redo it every spring.

Re: Sand blasted after 1 month of CO winter driving

How do you remove the factory film that is already there?

Warm it with a heat gun, I think. But I've never had to remove any, even after years of service. Bruce

Re: Sand blasted after 1 month of CO winter driving

It's not okay to lay new film over the factory film if the factory film is still in excellent condition?

I would think this would make it stick out further, and be more noticeable than it already is
