Re: Sd card format 2014 over land

I use FAT32, to format the card, and my music is in .wma at 128 Kbps. Works fine for me. Also, lock the card before putting it in your Jeep.

Re: Sd card format 2014 over land

SDXC will not work apparently.
It has to be SDHC formatted to FAT32.

I believe all 64GB SD Cards are SDXC.

Windows will not format it Fat32. You need a 3rd Party Tool.

I bought this tool $10.00 below and use it for 64GB USB Sticks and 32GB SD Cards.

I have not tried it on a 64GB SD Card though.

SwissKnife Premium

There are free tools out there. But the risk of getting a virus before you find one that works is very high.

128 Kbps, ouch my ears hurt. That's about as bad as Bluetooth or XM.

Use at least 192 Kbps when you can. Space is cheap. I have about 350 CD's at 250 Kbps on a 64GB USB Stick.

I make all of mine 320 kbps.
Will Uconnect play AAC files or only MP3?

Mine plays AAC or mp3 just fine. And some people have trouble with the album art, but on an iMac I just drag from iTunes right to SD card and everything works great.

Re: Sd card format 2014 over land

Great, no one has answered the AAC question before and the manual only references MP3.

Glad I could help, I assume all radios are the same on the files they can play, FYI mine is on the Summit.

Re: Sd card format 2014 over land

8.4N on the Limited coming.
It means I can continue to rip all CDs in AAC, and re do those I did on MP3.
Pity it has to be FAT32 though, it's not 1990 anymore.

After 40 years of working in heavy industry I can't tell the difference using a higher bitrate, so that's why I qualified my answer. I guess the best thing you can do is try different formats and bitrates, and use what you like the best. And by the way, Sat radio sounds crappy compared to my SD and USB music in my Jeep.

For some reason it's still very common. I think for these small embedded systems it's a lot easier to implement Fat32. It may be a license thing too if you choose to use the other formats.

My wifes VW is the same, the Parrot Radio I had in my 2002 GC was the same.
