I havent seen anything posted about slow or not retracting front seat belts so I wanted all to know if you have this annoying problem, your dealer will replace them with a MUCH better unit...Just a fyi
Anything to do with the front passenger seat belt locking? Its a stupid feature but supposedly if you pull the seat belt out to far it "ratchets locks" and you need to put it all the way back in (unbuckling it) to pull it back out and have it free as normal. They claim its for a car seat, but its illegal to have a car seat in the front seat as they agreed. The driver seat doesn't do it, and I've verified its on other new jeeps and durangos else they finally changed it?
Or your issue was more just not going back in for some reason... Mine go in fine never sloppy
Correct assumption that the lock is for a kid's seat, but odd that the front does it. I have to guesses: a) same assembly as the rears or b) since some models allow for fold flat front seat - a way to secure items being transported.
My driver's seat belt was slow to retract and I had the dealer look at it twice when in for other maintenance. Service guys said there is no adjustment they can do, but both times they used silicone lube on the retractor. After the second time (months ago) it is much better.
That said, I still wish the belt would lock like my old vehicles. I prefer a tight belt all the time rather than the active lock-on-impact type. Much better for high speed twisties, especially on leather seats.
