Seat leather cracked

My leather seat cover is cracked on the driver's seat on the cushion closest to the door. Is this common wear and tear?

Thoughts on whether it's worth a repair at a trim shop or should I just buy a new cover for about $300.

Re: Seat leather cracked

Mine is exactly the same (2011 Laredo X, black leather). Appeared about 6 months after warranty expired and I've just lived with it, but it kills me a little every morning. Let me know where you found the seat cover to purchase if you go that route.

I highly doubt it if it's past the basic warranty.

Yeah, the basic warranty has to be valid.

Re: Seat leather cracked

My seat looks like crap, but it's not torn or anything. We always make sure to get out gently and aren't huge people. I wonder if they'd warranty it then.

Re: Seat leather cracked

Leather has a natural tendency to show some wear and creasing no matter how careful you are getting in and out of the seat. The higher thigh bolsters on the seat bottom are a real good area for that to occur. Unless this is very excessive I think you'd have a hard time getting this past the dealer and FCA as anything other than normal wear.

Re: Seat leather cracked

I found the leather seat cover (bottom only) for $302 at one of the many Mopar parts websites. This kind of thing really bothers me on my cars so I will just buy a new one.

It seems very straight forward after seat removal. If it were the upper cushion I think I'd have to mess with the side airbags.

Seat leather cracked

X2 it drives me crazy, I hate the way it starts to look. I've never had a vehicle's seats wear so badly.

Re: Seat leather cracked

The driver's seat cover cracked on my 2011 Laredo while under the extended warranty. The warranty wouldn't cover it, but the seat bottom wasn't heating so I paid for the cover. The warranty covered all of the labor and replacement seat bottom element.
