selec terrain rock questions

2014 Overland.
Wife drives the rig, and has called me saying the airbag warning light is on.
Sent me a picture of the dash.
there is an icon looks like mountains, with the word "terrain" under them is also displayed...
Does that mean it got put in "rock" mode?
If so, does that disable the air bag?

oh, she just picked it up from the dealer for warranty work... so she would not notice if the dial was adjusted.

Re: selec terrain rock questions

Is this it? From the Owner's Manual:

Terrain
Press and release the UP or DOWN arrow button until the Terrain display icon is high- lighted in the EVIC. Press and release the RIGHT arrow button to display the Selec-
Terrain, Air Suspension, Drivetrain, Vehicle Pitch, Vehicle Roll, Vehicle Altitude and Wheel Articulation.

Re: selec terrain rock questions

The airbag thing you need to check right away. Are there any messages? Dealer should be able to read the code behind the warning in a minute so I would just bring the car in.

Obviously you've never used the up and down buttons on the steering wheel to scroll through the different pages of info that display inside the speedo readout. There's way more info than just the fuel page you have yours set to....maybe try reading the owners manual.

Re: selec terrain rock questions

I read the owners manual in July of 2013... a lot has escaped me since then. And, since the owners manual and the Jeep were on the other side of town when this was taking place it was a little difficult to reference. I did reference one online, but with 100's of pages and being at work, I though asking the question here was a better use of my, and my employers time.
I do use the info system, for such things as oil pressure, trans temp etc, but have never needed to explore the terrain page. Having refreshed myself on it when she got home from work, I recal why i have never needed to reference it.
As I've stated, its my wifes rig, I rarely drive it, so I'm no all that familiar with it myself.

Thanks.

Funny thing is, the dealer had just completed replacing the volume control on the back side of the steering wheel... My wife went to pick it up, the airbag light was on, she drove it straight back into the service department, and they told her it was ok, they were too busy to look at it, come back after the long weekend.
To say I'm disappointed with the service department is an understatement.

Dealers, its ok that your airbags are malfunctioning and someone could die in an accident we have got oil changes to do now get out of here. Welcome to jeep dealer service. Id go to another dealer if i were you. There are a few ok dealers out there there but there are many rotten ones

Re: selec terrain rock questions

My 2011 EVIC has no Terrain settings nor are they mentioned in my owners manual. Out of curiosity, what do they do?

Re: selec terrain rock questions

the terrain settings are electronic tuning of the 4wheel drive system (traction control/vehicle stability control/rear electric differential, center differential) to provide optimum settings for various types of driving surfaces... snow, sand, mud, rock... or auto(aka street use).
the terrain "screen" itself offers nothing useful as near as I can tell, gives you a status on what you have selected (sand, mud, rock etc) and shows a graphic of wheel articulation... maybe some other equally useless stuff I forgot, was nothing worth committing to memory... again, gimmickry and useless info... a play screen if you will.
