The powertrain warranty is 5/100 so whats the problem? I would go back and talk to the service manager and have them do the update. I don't know how some of these dealers stay in buisness.

I think that's the problem...logic and a dealer.
The real kick in the you know what, is when the girl at Chrysler Warranty said it should be covered, but when I had her call the dealer to have them make note of it for when I take it in, THEY told her it wasn't covered.
Talk about the tail waggin' the dog.
I may stop by the dealer to discuss before my appointment.
For $140.00, I'm not so sure it's worth the aggravation and time to fight it....even though it is wrong.

Don't give them any money for this TSB. Make them fix it under warranty. Just have to fight them for it. Make it so it's not worth it for them to argue with you anymore. Good luck.

Re: Service Bulletin 21-006-13 '09-'12 WK/'09-'10 XK 5.7L FLASH: Transmission

Update,
So I talked to another person at the service dept. where I have the appointment next Saturday and he was more understanding and easier to deal with on the situation. However, I'm getting the impression from them that they need to diagnose the problem via scanner (which probably won't show anything), or by drivability (I hope it acts up on the test drive), and then they do the flash to have the warranty cover it???. I will fight that if both of those don't pan out. There is a TSB...FIX IT!
I called Chrysler's warranty dept. twice, and they have pulled the TSB and my VIN and have said it is covered under the factory powertrain warranty. Just out of curiosity, I called another dealer up in the mountains to see if they might be easier to deal with on the issue, and when I gave them my VIN, they said my vehicle wasn't even covered by the TSB.....jeesh.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone that has had the re-flash done had the dealer try to stick them with the bill?
If someone near Denver has had it done without having to fight with the dealer, please forward the dealer name.
Thanks,

TSB : "If the customer describe the symptom/condition OR if the technician finds the DTC, perform the Repair Procedure."

Just a tip, you cannot go in and ask for a TSB to be performed. You need to call and say "I have been having problems with BLAH BLAH BLAH and I understand that there is a fix for this particular issue". As long as the problems you describe match the symptoms listed in the TSB they will perform the update.

TSBs are exactly what they mean, a bulletin. Chysler does not recommend under any way doing every TSB that comes out. They are there to identify a problem that has been reported and the suggested fix. Not every transmission with the components listed in the TSB exhibit the described issue.

Not trying to discourage you, but you need to call in with "the described issues" to be assisted or NO it would not be covered under warranty, even if you were under the factory bumper to bumper warranty.

The only exception to this rule is RRTs which are rapid response updates which every vehicle entering a dealership will get updated because they are all identified as having the issue or developing a problem in the future.

Just got this applied.. so far so good. Downshifts are much quicker to respond, no more hesitation. Wonder how this affects gas mileage.. we will see.

Had the flash done yesterday. WOW! Get it done. You will not be sorry. Overall- better acceleration from a full or partial (rolling) stop and better acceleration on the entrances to expressways. Downshifts are also very smooth. Jeep got this one right.

In Chicago- went to Napleton River Oaks in Lansing, IL. I said I had sluggish transmission shifts and referenced the TSB. No problem. Covered under warrany.

.
Yeah agree just say you have the problem (describe condition listed in TSB) and hand them the printed TSB and say fix it. Otherwise they will try to diagnose it and then gives them the "out" of saying cant reproduce it. Saves them time by not having to diagnose it.

Good to hear this TSB addresses the transmission issues.

Has anyone noticed a difference in shifting when in sport mode?

I had this done yesterday. I had it done because the past TSB (maybe 3-4 months ago) really made the trans more confused on slight inclines and dropped my milage by 3MPG+. I think its better but not sure yet
