Share your Dealership Mishaps or Stories

I might need to take my JGC in for the first time to fix my QL issues - what's some of your other stories or idiotic things they tell you when fixing your Jeep?

Re: Share your Dealership Mishaps or Stories

I've had no problems with my dealership fixing my jeep. But when I had them pickup my jgc to have one of my front wheels fixed, the next day I just happen to see my jeep pass me by delivering parts to another dealership. They put 248 miles on it and to think when I called them about it they tried to say there was no way that could ever happen even tho I was standing right next to my jeep at the other dealership. And all they gave me was a $250.00 in store credit if you will to their parts department for the trouble. I don't know if anyone has ever had this problem before but I know now that I write down my milage before leaving the dealership for any reason.

Re: Share your Dealership Mishaps or Stories

Dumb tech told me the air suspension overheating message on the EVIC was because the QL compressor is designed to be cooled by driving through water and mud like you would when off roading.

Service adviser told me that Chrysler said it's normal for the remote start comfort system to "not work".

Re: Share your Dealership Mishaps or Stories

Made an appointment to have my oil changed and have a leak fixed in the rear window glass. After getting to the dealer they tell me that they have no TSB on the leak so they have to get an OK from Jeep to fix it under warranty. I told them that I'm sure Jeep didn't design it to have a leak and it should be covered under the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty. They said it didn't matter and they needed an OK. I left after an hour. Two days later I called the dealership and they said they got permission and I needed to make another appointment. I said I already had one two days ago. Very frustrating to say the least. Now I have to take another day to get the Jeep to the shop. Not happy.

Dealer sales guy told me the Hemi engines were OHC like the new Pentastar V6 when in fact they are OHV pushrod engines. DUH!

No problems / issues with Brigham-Gill (Natick, MA). Service Advisors have been knowledgable and very responsive. Plus they're friendly so the experience overall is positive. (knocking on wood trim)

Re: Share your Dealership Mishaps or Stories

Two different service reps told me that it was normal and expected that the A/C will freeze up after 3 hours or so (which makes it stop blowing at all) because "air conditioners are so cold these days" and as a result, i needed to turn up the temp (was already at 73 when this happened) or just shut it off for awhile.

Those service reps are full of it. Actually the old R-12 systems were colder than the R-134. There should be NO freezing no matter how long the AC is on.

Re: Share your Dealership Mishaps or Stories

On delivery day for my wife's new car, as we were waiting in the showroom, one of the kids from the shop back into the front qtr panel. Needless to say the dealer was slightly embarrassed!

We had planned on picking up a new car, and drove home with a loaner. Ugh.

I demanded a replacement qtr panel, vs body-work.

Angry Re: Share your Dealership Mishaps or Stories

Dealer and I had a miscommunication on the info needed for my Tread Lightly discount. I thought everything was cool after my last emails since they did not call or email about needing more info after May 20 2012. Both he and my replacement sales fool said they need a certificate. Well the punk Sales Manager at Dulles Jeep decided instead of calling me or emailing me he would hold my VA tags hostage. As a result I got two citations for expired tags which are now dismissed but it cost me time and a ride out to dealership to give him the number he needed. Punk didnt need any certificate or certificate number. If the sales manager would have communicated better we would not have had this issue and I would not have mentioned it on Warren Brown's chat "Wheels" on Fri at the washingtonpost.com. Warren who has reviewed cars for the Post for last 35 years wasnt pleased since I am his go to guy for info. Dulles cost me a few hours of my time and I figure I have now cost them a several sales so we are even. Jeep needs to monitor their stealers. Kind of soured my impression of Jeep. Dulles on their website says they treat customers like family. Yeah like the Mafia and Sonny in the Godfather. If I wanted attitude from the sales manager I would have purchased a X5!
