Re: Shifter recal yes or no

So can you still back up with the door open, as long as your seatbelt is on? If so, then I'll have it.

Why would you NOT get it.... ? If it has to do with safety and it doesn't disrupt normal functions, I see no reason....
some off us are avoiding a prior TCM flash as it can alter the shifting in undesirable ways.....agree, safety first but this one, eh

The problem is, the software fix for the S27 recall hasn't been released yet for the diesel. So I'm not sure what you think you had done.

I haven't had the recall done, but my evic says "you are not in park" when I open the door with the vehicle in gear. I believe it's done this since new.

I had the recall performed yesterday. In reverse, door open, foot off brake, seatbelt off= the car goes into auto park. Seatbelt on= doesn't go into auto park.

Exactly, Same as for me, And if it hasn't been released yet, how did I get it and how does it seem to work as he and I describe?

Yes you can back up with door open and seatbelt on...They did call it a S27 recall repair and they did flash 4 modules.

I can say that prior TCM flashes have hurt me more than this one prob will, One of the 1st ones I got dropped my MPG a solid 2 MPG and have never got that performance back yet. All in all, still love the vehicle..... Never get below 25 MPG but can't quite crack 30 on the highway any longer....
Still beats the heck out of 12-16 MPG with a HEMI....

Re: Shifter recal yes or no

Nope, Just one... Maybe it was good timing..OR ...Maybe it was like my CAT Replacement. The jumped the gun on the recall and put the same old revision in, then when the new one came out, they put the newer rev in appx 2 months later... AAANNDD
Remember the leaking CV joint boots? Ya they did that too ! put new ones on before the recall because they were leaking..then when recall came out again they replaced the perfectly good ones with new ones again ! They said that was the only way they could clear the recall

Re: Shifter recal yes or no

well what this says to me is that since you have not show any ill effects from having a "wrong" flash on a diesel then a natural conclusion is that the flashes are the same between the 3.6/5.7 and 3.0/6.4 groups...they must be splitting for volume sake and not having stupid appts out 3-6 mos.....that's my take anyway...

From what I understand (I'll know tomorrow after getting my car serviced), the only difference in the operation of the shifter is that the car will "Auto Park" once the door is open while in P or R (likely after the brake was pressed at least once, i.e. BMW electronic shifter).

I'm not sure how NOT having this feature is preferable.

if you are avoiding a TCM flash because you like how your trans shifts then this may ruin your day, but make you safer, kinda....
