Me...I like changing the oil myself (saving all the receipts of course), and saving a buck or two. Whatever you do OP, NEVER go to those quick oil change places like Jiffy Lube!

The dealers around here are undercutting the Jiffy Lube prices, but they did seem to move the coffee away from the "express lane" and into the sales area.

My Mopar 4 oil change deal is in my Owner Connect Account tied to my VIN. I can use it at any CDJR dealer. The only problem with this package is that it expires after two years.

I always go to the dealer since they are free.

Every once in a while I get coupons for the oil change and tire rotation for $24.95. That's the only time I take it to the dealer.

Next time you are there, chat with the service manager if those coupons don't come regularly enough to match your change intervals...

24.95 is kinda high for dino pee, particularly with a coupon. Higher than regular express lane pricing here.

If you go to https://www.moparownerconnect.com/oc...nersLogin.aspx and have an account (free), you can always go to the maintenance tab, then click on the 'coupons' button.

Sometimes good, sometimes not so good.

Re: Should i get my oil changed at the dealer?

I went to change the oil on my WJ last weekend and the oil/filter cost more @ Advance Auto parts than service @ Jiffy lube. I went to Jiffy Lube, was out in 15 minutes with everything vacuumed and fluids topped off.

Always check their work. Some stores might have good mgt., but a lot of them do not. Mine did not. I was charged for work they claimed to have done but never touched.

They're often called Iffy Lube in some circles.

Re: Should i get my oil changed at the dealer?

I know tell me about it. First time I ever went there and it was slow. I watched everything they did while standing outside. I heard the guy say 7 qts to the other guy with the oil hose and I had to tell hem it was only 6.

Re: Should i get my oil changed at the dealer?

They run deals like 39.00 for three oil changes; its the best deal you can find. You will also get flyers for 17,95 oil changes and such. I like the fact that they also run a 10 point inspection; might catch something getting ready to fail like a belt or a hose. Plus, less likely to strip out the oil drain plug, etc

Re: Should i get my oil changed at the dealer?

I usually go to the dealer. That way the service is in the system. I don;t really trust other places like Jiffy Lube. The last (and only) time I took my car there, their computer system had the wrong amount for my car. The first half of the '09 G8 GT's take 8.8 quarts of oil. The last half of the '09's take 8.0 quarts due to a change in the oil pan. The computer pulled up 8 and my car takes the 8.8. I told them that and didn't have any issues, but I doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy when other places may have a computers tell them the same thing.

Re: Should i get my oil changed at the dealer?

Partly because I have the lifetime Chrysler contract and partly because it is convenient and they have free WiFi (and several kinds of coffee) when the 4 free was over I bought the $65 set of 4 more from the dealer. That way each one is in the Chrysler database.

That said my Crossfire has no warrenty and the local tire shop I use does an 8 quart full synthetic change for $66, about half what Chrysler charges (and uses oil that meets the Mercedes standards).
