Shredded inner fender - Overland

Some mornings when the temperature is below -25 and I don't have time to warm up the Jeep my air suspension will not work. Of coarse anytime I take it in for service there is no problem. I just get a wait for system cool down error but the dealership says if there is no light when I bring it in there is nothing they can do.. anyway that isn't the point here.

One morning my wife had to drive it this way. The result is my passenger side inner fender (the carpet like stuff) got shredded.

As anyone just removed these and maybe spray the area with a beadliner product? I haven't pulled the liner yet so not really sure what is behind it.. Hopefully nice weather tomorrow and I'll take a look but thought I'd say if anyone else had had this issue..

I know with Jeep Tjs I always just removed these and sprayed them.. I found it was a great area for road salt to get trapped.

Re: Shredded inner fender - Overland

I've never checked but I don't think there's anything behind that liner.

Bones has it, the felt liner is for lack of a better term the inner fender well. If you look in the engine bay you'll see how skeletal the construction is and the back of the felt is visible and unsupported in large areas. Reach under the air box, it'll seem weird there's no metal where you'd think.

Ok thanks I'll just go ahead and order a new inner fender.. For some reason thought these were going to be super expensive but they are only $20..

You may not be aware, but there is an air suspension TSB for the cold weather condition you described. It involves reprogramming the ASCM (Air Suspension Control Module) with new software, allowing the pump to operate up to 40* below zero. Looks like your 2011 fits the build date parameters.

Check it out;
