Re: Shudder, Do you have Quadra-Lift ?

What does everyone mean when they refer to "shudder"? I'm about 3 weeks away from my Overland arriving. I've tested various jeeps with both engines with QL at different dealers and never noticed anything that concerned me. Just curious.

V6 with QL-II, shudder between 15-20mph, I have been to the dealership twice, they are having a hard time trouble shooting it. They called Chrysler, Sending down new parts to the dealership, I hope they can fix it this time.

The shutter has nothing to do with QL...people that complain about the shutter its usually between 40-50 MPH and aeromode doesn't kick in until above 60 after so many seconds. The shutter is a transmission problem either the torque converter wants to lock up or unlock or something with improper shifting i.e. the transmission can't decide which gear to slect up shift or down shift.

Do you mean QD-II? There is no QL-II.

I think your jumping to some conclusions here, it could occur at a higher rate on cars with QL even though the system is not moving while it happens. Currently about 3x more people people with the problem are saying they have QL. If only 1/3 of GCs have QL that means that cars with QL are almost 10 times more likely to experience shutter. I guess my point is that there is much more mystery to this problem than your explanation talks about. I don't think that anyone here (including me) knows with absolute certainty what is causing this issue.

Re: Shudder, Do you have Quadra-Lift ?

This poll and your conclusion are completely flawed. The questions should ask if they have quadralift and then for everyone that answers yes, then ask if they have the shudder. Also for everyone that answers no that they do not have quadralift, they should then be asked if they have the shudder.

I had the same thought, but just wanted to keep the poll simple. At any rate, QL certainly has to place additional alignment and end play complexities on the drive train, there is no way around this. Also, the Hemi places much higher demands on everything because of the radically increased torque. I don't believe that QL or the Hemi are the direct cause of this problem, but I am certain that they both place additional stress on driveline components and thus produce this symptom at a higher rate, and this would certainly be reflected in poll results no matter how you did the poll. Again, I'm not implying at all that the shudder is caused by QL, it's much more complex than that. This poll would be far to complex and wordy if it incorporated all of these factors.
