How ironic is it that you don't even see the flaw in your argument. Even if what you are saying is true, then it's true for ALL vehicles surveyed by Consumer Reports. So the data is as accurate for one brand as it is for another, right? Using your own logic, it has to be.

Either way, Consumer Reports is just one source of data to compare reliability. There are others as well. Jeep consistently ranks toward the bottom of the barrel no matter the source. Check out TrueDelta.com for another good source of reliability data. The guy who runs it is constantly asking people on just about every automotive forum to sign up and provide input. I've been a member for several years now.

I'm not surprised.
A real wonder must happen if I ever were to buy another Fiat/Chrysler product again.

Don't be so foolish. Just because YOU have ONE example of a Cherokee without problems means nothing. There's nothing that I said that was wrong (and my post was an answer to someone else, not anything you said, btw), I simply reiterated what the SERVICE MANAGER of a Jeep dealership told me. If you think that you, by owning one Jeep Cherokee, knows more than him (who sees tons of them every day), then I guess we have nothing left to talk about. I really hope you have good luck with your Cherokee in the future. I'm 100% sure that you'll need it. In the meantime, I wouldn't brag about having a reliable Cherokee. It's new and just because it works now doesn't mean it can't develop issues in time. I guess it is an accomplishment to have a new Jeep (any model) for almost a year and have no issues. You, my friend, are in the minority, I'd bet.

I agree. We have nothing more to talk about. I am one very happy and well pleased Chrysler/Jeep Cherokee owner. Sorry, your glass is half empty when mine is half full. I guess Michigan got all of the good Cherokees. My dealer is one of the largest Jeep dealers in mid Michigan. He can't keep Cherokees in particular on his lot they sell so fast. My service manger said he is not seeing the 9 speed transmission problems. He did get a batch of screwed up Wranglers a few months back but it didn't take him long to straighten them out. I know this service manger well and he gives me information he wouldn't give others so I trust him. Best of luck.

There is a reason why Jeep sales are through the roof today. Obviously real jeep people are not paying a bit of attention to Consumer Report.
You have GOT to be the biggest Jeep leg humper on this site...give me a break.."real people"? As opposed to fake people? Not everyone gets turned on reading Guns n' Ammo you know.

I wish I were in a position to drive your Jeep as I am betting it shifts just fine. I think the whole problem is you have bought into the foreign car myth that they are of a better quality.
Now you're just sounding downright stupid. My new 2014 Overland was shifting just fine UNTIL about 5000 miles, then it started downshifting rough in the lower gears...and I'm not the only one who has complained of this. If it's just my imagination, why has Chrysler come out with multiple reflashes for the V6 tranny? The vibration in the steering wheel at highway speeds has been with my vehicle from the start...again, a common problem for people with the 20" POS GoodYear tires.

Everything I wrote is absolutely 100% true. Have a nice life. All of my extended family, friends, and acquaintances work in the American automobile industry. They would not be caught dead in a foreign vehicle. The UAW won't even allow them to be parked on their grounds. If you drive a foreign vehicle to a shopping center around here it is likely to be vandalized. Chrysler used to go so far that even if you drove another American brand you had to park it in the back of the plant parking lot. Welcome to reality. These people depend on the American auto industry to be able to support their families and take that very seriously. Have you ever worked in an American auto plant? I don't think so or you would have some different opinions if you had. Trust me as I have lived on Long Island for a year and have something to compare to. Life in the Detroit area is much different than in New York. Loyalty is extremely important.

BTW, just because I don't think like you doesn't make me stupid. In fact I have 3 earned college degrees compliments of the American automobile industry. I graduated with no debt because of them.

Then why in the world did you get a jeep if you already knew of the poor quality?

Personally, my 2014 has had no issues, none. Perhaps you just got the bad apple in the barrel. Unfortunate, but it happens. Try contacting Jeep customer support or try a different dealer. As with all makes of cars, dealer support does vary. Good luck.

I already explained why. If you read my posts, you wouldn't be asking why.
The bad apple? LOL, apparently the barrel is chock ull of bad apples. Just read this forum for example after example. Like I said, it's not a huge deal for me because I'll be happily back in a 4Runner eventually. In the meantime, I'll just deal with the aggravation of getting/keeping the Jeep running right.

LOL....the world exists outside of the American automobile assembly plants. Yes, even in Detroit. I've been in Detroit plenty of times and there are foreign cars there. Probably less of them than in NY, but they are still relatively common. If you know nobody who drives a foreign car, I'd say your circle of acqauntances is very small...

BTW, even if what you say is true, it doesn't mean very much overall. Do you know why I chose a Grand Cherokee over a 4Runner? I've owned more than one 4Runner over the years and they are ultimately extremely reliable vehicles. Well, I chose the Grand Cherokee this time for one big reason--I hate the styling of the current generation 4Runner. I mean, I really hate it. Even the interior is ugly. Plus, it's an "old" generation, so it has little in the way of modern features. You can't even get pushbutton start unless you buy the top-of-the-line Limited model. You can only get an ancient 5-speed automatic in the current 4Runner, which makes the fuel economy worse-in-class. Plus, the driving dynamics on the current model are a step down from my 2004 4Runner. So I decided that I'll wait for the 6th generation (should be here in the 2017 model year), and in the meantime I'll try my luck with a Grand Cherokee. Unfortunately for me, I haven't been very lucky so far. No big deal though-----I'll most definitely be jumping back to a 4Runner when the 6th generation comes out, as long as Toyota has the good sense to bring back the nice styling again, inside and out.
It ranks very high in owner satisfaction in consumer reports. Out of 30 SUV's The Grand Cherokee V-8 and Diesel are second only to the Toyota Highlander v-6 and FJ Cruiser and even that is very close with the Highlander V-6 had a score of 82 and the Cruiser a score of 81. The two Jeep models were 78 and 79. The 4Runner that you praise is further down the list with a score of 71 in owner satisfaction. So the list goes all the way down to the Nissan pathfinder with a score of 52. So there are some numbers for you to chew on.

Don't try to weasel your way out of this one. You specifically said that the GC rates very high for people who said they would buy one again. Show me THOSE numbers. Where are they?
