Slight pull to the right?

I'm pretty sure that when I picked up my WK2 it wasn't aligned completely. I've noticed a slight pull at times but at the same time there are certain roads that are what I think is flat and my wheel will stay straight. Is the power steering on the WK2's extra sensitive or am I making this up.

Re: Slight pull to the right?

It should drive straight without much correction. My '11 Overland came from the factory with perfect alignment (I drove it before dealer prep and told them to not touch the alignment). But many factors may have to be considered, such as road crown, wind, driver preferences, etc. If you have less than 12/12 on it,the dealer should check and align under warranty.

Re: Slight pull to the right?

Yes, the steering is quite sensitive on these vehicles. As far as experiencing a pull (or push), if it doesn't do it all the time, I wouldn't sweat it. As Rich stated above, road crown has quite a bit to do with it. Either way, it probably wouldn't hurt just to have it checked. A rather large percent of of the WK2's I perform alignments on are out in left field, however, they drive almost perfect.

Re: Slight pull to the right?

It is unlikey that the alignment will be a warranty item once you have owned it for a while. Mine wasn't.

Re: Slight pull to the right?

No roads are flat. If they were they would be called skidpans, because that's what we'd all be doing every time it rains, even a little bit. Normal cross slope for roads is 1/4" per foot, so with a 6' wide track on a two lane road your right side is 1-1/2" lower than your left side. That makes the vehicle drift to the right.

Multi-lane divided highways with drainage in the median will have the left lane or lanes sloping left. Use this to determine if the left drift is the same as the right drift in the right lane.

As a point of reference, minimum slope in the direction of travel is normally 1/16" per foot.
