Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

So, now, after the gas tank replacement - I have some wierd buzzing noise or rattle from a standing start . . . back to the dealership for me and my baby.

Tech: exhaust needed to be repositioned from crossmember - it's all good now!

That sound good. I'm having mine replaced next week.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

My tank was replaced and no sloshing noise from the tank. New tank looks exactly same as old one but has different innner design. I guess new tank may have slight fuel capacity lose.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

For the fuel tank issue, how noticeable is the sound? Is it worth the trouble of having it replaced?

If I rock the jeep inside my garage I do hear a bit of a sloshing sound...but I've never noticed it from inside the vehicle when driving.

I also checked the battery compartment and it's dry...and I pulled what looks like the drain plug and nothing there.

I can also hear it when you rock the vehicle from under the Jeep most definitely but I don't hear it from inside so its not an issue to me.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

I had the sloshing issue as well. Checked the floor pan plugs while I had it on the lift yesterday. As mentioned previously, the rubber delivery plugs were still intact. Driver's side had appx 5-6 gallons of trapped water. Got some vid of it as well. I'll try to get it posted up this evening when I get home.

BTW...after draining was completed, no more sloshing.

I'd love to see what they "delivery plugs" are. I don't have any sloshing or water buildup and I can't identify any plugs that shouldn't be there to protect the battery and cable box so I probably don't have the plug but it would be great to see a picture of the plugs to confirm that assumption.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

Fuel tank has been updated on my particular vehicle. After the replacement, I was still hearing a very noticeable sloshing. This is what I found on the driver's side..... Passenger side was high and dry.

And before any of you make any southern/redneck comments, yes, I am very southern.

DISCLAIMER: If you do happen to have trapped water in the floorpans and you attempt to remove the plugs and video at the same time, you WILL get wet. Period.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

1) What is "official" word on these "delivery plugs"? Are they supposed to be removed by the dealer at the time of delivery?

2) Is there a picture that shows where they are exactly and how many are them altogether?

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

On mine there are 3 plugs on the driver's side, 2 facing down and one facing up. This appears to be the one facing up unto the frame, correct? The one's facing down are in line, this one is offset.

BTW, I've had mine through rains, washes, you name it in 4000 miles and when I pull any of these plugs mine is bone dry, even after driving through a heavy rain. I question that any of these plugs are "shipping only" due to the water fording capabilities Jeep touts. Removing that plug would allow water into the floorboard ares when fording a stream, would it not?

If this is indeed a plug that is to be removed when the vehicle is PDI'd then someone should be able to produce the line in the service manual that call it out.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

MJW, correct. This plug faces upwards and is right at the edge of the line/debris shield.

On your Jeep, are the downward plugs plastic or rubber?

The downward plugs are rubber. The bottom plate looks different on yours as well. Is your 2WD or 4WD? Mine is 4WD.

The downward facing plugs seem to go up into the wiring box under the driver's seat. The upward facing plug seems to have another compartment about 1/2" up into the hole.

I wish we could get a real answer from Jeep
