Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

RFF111, if I could post the video I took yesterday you would not believe it. I was looking for the "ant" problem because it is so bad they crawl all over me while driving. small little black ants.

We lifted the back lid where the spare tire goes and it looks like a kiddie pool. It has two plastic bin like containers, that we lifted. I had my hands splashing in the water and emailed it to the dealer. They were so shocked.

I told them forget repairing it, I want a new car. They told me they will order a new one same color and will talk to their general manager on how to work out the paper work.

We recently had lots of rain here in south florida, I am beginning to think this car flooded! Forget the a/c hose, i hasn't been driven enough to accumulate a/c condensation.

I will keep you all posted.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

I don't even want a new JGC. At this point I just want something else. I am just stunned that it is the year 2013 and yet we are forced to deal with standing trapped water in our cars. You mean to tell me that technology hasn't evolved to the point where Chrysler cannot engineer this problem out of their most awarded SUV ever.

That is the desert survival option. Needed when the heep suddenly lights up like a christmas tree and dies.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

Wowzer... The JGC we rented in California for 10 days at the beginning of the month sloshed like crazy. Though I was going nuts until the wife heard it, too. I did not think too much about it because it was a rental. Luckily our 2014 does not slosh and AC condensate water drains under the car so I assume we're OK. I'll definitely be keeping an ear out for sloshing, especially after it sits out in its first Southwest Florida downpour.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

I had the same water sloshing sounds coming from under the drivers seat. This is the second time I've had to have this issue addressed. The first time I got the sunroof speech about the drains being plugged with leaves or spiders. Problem is the Jeep is garaged and I've got no trees. I drained the water by removing the plugs under the drivers side and got about 3 gallons of water out of it. Water was absolutely clean and clear, no soap in it at all. If it was water from the sun roof it would have had soap in it from the car wash. I knew that as clean as the water was it almost had to be condensation from the AC. The dealership assured me that it wasn't and that it was the sun roof. So I took it in the second time and again got the sun roof speech. I said this is getting close to being out of warranty and I needed the issue fixed once and for all. The genius working on it said "well you'll just have to clean those tubes every time you use the sun roof." They cleaned out the drain tubes and removed the plugs from underneath. I got it home and decided to check the Ac drain and sure enough that was the problem. I pulled the drain assembly and put a small plastic tube in the end of it to extend the drain out a little and reassembled the drain tube adding some RTV sealer between the drain and the transmission hump for a little extra protection.

Did you not notice any water dripping on the ground after shutting off your Jeep after the AC was on? Mine always dripped water (condensation) on the ground from the AC when I got out of my Jeep. That assured me that my AC drain is not clogged.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

I did have water draining on floor from AC. My drain tube was not plugged it was draining outside and some of it was also draining inside. The drain doesn't stick all the way thru and thus allows some of the water to work its way down the inside between the carpet and transmission hump. I put a small plastic tube inside the end of the drain extending it out about 1 1/2 inches. The water now runs out unobstructed and doesn't run down on the inside anymore. It's a real simple fix once you've looked at it you'll see how the water can leak inside as the stock tube just doesn't extend out far enough.

Cool glad you were able to fix it. Now this makes me want to check mine. I don't hear any sloshing but now I'm curious. Where is the drain located exiting the Jeep?

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

Go back to page 12 in this thread, fxafelix has pictures and a little write up. My Jeep is a 2011 so I would naturally assume Chrysler has addressed this by now. If you want to check it, run your AC for quite a while so you've got some good drainage going and check for moisture around the drain fitting on the inside between the carpet and transmission hump. Don't remove the drain unless it is actually leaking. The drain fitting isn't very robust and the tabs that hold it in are pretty weak and will probably break. I had to work on mine after I took it out to get it to stay back in.
