Definitely NOT fixed on the 14's. Heard a sloshing sound this evening and discovered water in my battery compartment. Worried about the damage it's caused by just sitting there.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

I heard the sloshing noise for the first time a few days ago, a day after we had 5 inches of rain here in Virginia. I found 3 inches of water in the battery box. There was no water in the spare tire compartment so I'm guessing the moon roof is leaking.

Very disappointed in my new Jeep. I traded in my 2011 Overland because of the poor transmission shifting. What a surprise to find that the shifting problem is worse in my 2014 Summit plus now have the AC Remote Start problem, the vehicle shaking and steering wheel shimmy over 60 mph problem, the slow U Connect problem, and now water in the car. What's next.

A question for anyone; how do you determine your Jeep's build date? My label says Build Date: 6-13. Would that mean June 13? That's odd because I bought the Jeep in May.

2014 Jeep Summit, V6, moon roof, 20 inch wheels.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

Sorry to hear about your problems. You need to get your Jeep to the dealer. They are pretty much the only ones who can resolve your problems.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

This is sad that it is still going on with Jeep. I have a 2013 that started to collect water last April. Bought new. They kept telling me it wasn't a problem. I would drain gallons of water out in front of the techs, but they said they couldn't replicate the problem. So, I would continue to take the vehicle to the dealership monthly after rain and drain it. Finally the people at Corporate got involved, and their lack of mental horsepower really started to show. They asked if I was driving in the rain with the windows down. Brilliant. So, I took it back in and insisted they fix it. I contacted an attorney and we started to fill out the lemon law paperwork in TN. After the Jeep was in the shop for 1 month straight, they found the leak. They had to remove most of the interior and all of the carpet to find it. So, if you are still having problems and your vehicle is under warranty, insist they do this. The problem is that without doing this step, the just pour water on it and if it doesn't immediately come out of the bottom (with drains removed) they say "unable to replicate." The problem is that it can take a day or so for the water to make its way to the battery compartments or to the area with the drain plugs. Mine was collecting near the rear hatch area, where the geniuses at the factory forgot to finish the welds where the three pieces of sheet metal meet. They had to do significant body work to close the holes. If you hear the water, it is likely collecting in your spare tire area. You need to pull out the tire and look. You'd be surprised at the 3-5 gallons of water in there. When you hit the brakes or accelerate, the water moves out of that area (once full enough after a few rains or washes) and migrates to your floor board area in the front. It then seeps up into the carpet, forms condensation on the interior windows, and makes everything damp. I made them replace all of the carpet, since mold is a concern. In the 10 months I've owned it, it has been in the shop for 9 weeks total (4 weeks straight.) Make them look at the back hatch area if you ares still having the problem. Peace out.

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

Check out my post on where the water may be entering in newer Grand Cherokees. If it doesn't have a sunroof, it is likely coming in from the rear hatch area where the factory did not finish the welds properly. If this is the case, the water works its way in and collects in the spare tire area, then when it gets full enough, it starts to drain towards the battery compartments where you are finding the water. It also will eventually get to the area where the drain plugs are under the front of the vehicle exterior (there are a few drain plugs on both the passenger and driver side.) Make sure you get it out of the spare tire area. Make them replace the carpet, as it is likely to mold over time. It isn't just the AC drain issue with these, they have manufacturing defects in the rear of the vehicle. Good luck!

Re: Sloshing sound from under the car

No lie, my windshield fogs up EVERY single time I drive my GC. I drive with the defroster on all of the time. Now I am wondering if this is the reason.

It is worth checking with them. The dealership I went to has recorded their findings since they appear to be the only dealership that has figured out how to fix it (keeping in mind my Jeep was in their body shop for a full 4 weeks.) My windows fogged up, if it was cool outside there would actually be condensation on the inside of the vehicle. If you can, pull the little black drain plugs from the bottom of the vehicle and see if any water comes out. If it does, you probably have this same problem (especially if the AC drain looks fine.) Good luck! I can let you know the dealership if you need to have yours reach out to mine.

I just looked in the battery box and in the compartment under the drivers seat both are dry. I did notice that the both drain plugs have been taken out! I am now wondering if this was a quick dealership fix to a sloshing problem for the previous owner?
