Unhappy So I've had my new 2016 Summit for less than 24 hrs

It's in the shop and I have a loaner. Found leaking oil this morning and it appears oil may be leaking from the crank shaft seal, at least that's what they think. I will find out Monday, what a bummer. Dealership feels bad and so do I. Time for a beer!

It's a V6...black with dark sienna brown interior. Just one of those things that happens. Can't wait to get it back. I was skeptical about the interior color, but I love it. It looks great with the black exterior. I'm in Birmingham, AL. Thanks for having a cold one with me!

On a positive note at least you weren't trucking down the highway 400 miles from nowhere blissfully unaware that that your engine was about to seize up.

That would be bad.

Re: So I've had my new 2016 Summit for less than 24 hrs

Funny this is, I have a 16' jon boat and my driveway has an incline. They said, and I feel like it would be ok to tow the boat "right off the bat". Thank goodness I saw the oil before I left, otherwise, it would have been a disaster! I didn't feel good about towing the boat and I guess this was my answer. Don't have to worry about towing my boat before the break-in period now! I didn't have a chance to tow the boat. Still love Jeep!! Out of five jeeps, this is the first real problem.

And I will say this, Benchmark Automotive handled it with class today. They felt bad and gave me another Grand Cherokee to drive home today. This is my 3rd Jeep from them and they will make it right.

As in a loaner vehicle until yours is replaced, or its yours now? Either eay sounds like a great dealership and glad they are able to take care of you.

It's a loaner until they make the repair. I hope it's just a bad seal, I guess! I pray this is not a sign of things to come!

Re: So I've had my new 2016 Summit for less than 24 hrs

It could be transmission fluid leaking in the bell housing... either way I can relate.

I have a '16 Overland Hemi. 2 weeks after I bought it I was seeing oil drops on the garage floor. I took it in and the dealers' mechanic says it's a transmission leak in the bell housing (hydraulic pump behind torque converter) He says it was a scored shaft that ruined the seal, an assembly or mfg. issue. Warranty called for transmission swap. They topped it off with fluid, ordered the new transmission and sent me on my way until parts came in.
Later, I take it in for transmission swap and they call and tell me my oil pan was leaking too (rear 2 bolts). Repaired both at the same time. All seems to be just fine now. Tech said that he's "seen a few" just like mine. Not a real confidence boost, but no more issues... hopefully this will be a minor bump in the road of ownership.

Geez, mine seems minor compared to yours! I found out this morning that the valve cover gasket is the issue. They are shipping a replacement gasket overnight and should he me back in business midday tomorrow. Hopefully, our problems are behind us (fingers crossed).

So I've had my new 2016 Summit for less than 24 hrs

I fell you bud... I had a leaking power steering rack in my previous 2014 at only 345 miles. Dealer wound up having to replace the entire rack because the fitting that had the leak was not serviceable. And to top it off I was given a 2011 Sonata loaner 😡

Hopefully this incident will be the last for you. Good luck!!
