Some sort of oil leak?

Just noticed tonight where I park on the driveway, there's an oil stain, it's clear and doesn't seem like engine oil.

It's dark out but I tried snapping some photos, I can clearly see some areas on undercarriage where oil has leaked.

Just looking for input on what kind of fluid is leaking.

Thanks.

hoping to have it checked out Tomorrow morning.

It may be residue engine oil after a service. See this document:

It may also be steering fluid. I had some disappear from my steering reservoir as a one off. There was no evidence underneath so it may have gone into the steering rack boot. It was topped up at service time and good since then. Check the reservoir level.

Re: Some sort of oil leak?

Thanks for the tip. found out its engine oil from what seems like the oil filter housing, there's a small pool of oil in the valley where the filter housing is mounted to the motor, doesn't seem like it leaked from the cap as its bone dry up top.

Gonna take it in for service.

Re: Some sort of oil leak?

Well it's definitely motor oil, I iust had to fight my local dealership service dept. to get them to look at it again, they keep trying to fluff me off by saying it's a shoddy oil change done by another dealership In the town I used to live in from 6 months ago and to take it back there even though the leak just happened last week.

I honestly would if I could but I just moved here and my local dealership is now woodbine Chrysler and I tell ya, they've been treating me like absolute shit.

That aside, I can see 2 things;

1) the filter cap and neck is bone dry, not even a sweat of oil seeping out.

2) The valley between the Cylinder head banks is filled with oil and running back behind the motor and dripping off the transmission belly pan.

Will update once I hear back from the dealer..

Re: Some sort of oil leak?

I had the exact same problem and after they changed the oil filter two different times they finally changed the oil cooler which the oil filter screws in to. Oil leak fixed. Good luck.

Yeah, dealer confirmed it was the oil cooler assembly that's leaking, but the part is on back order and they're not sure when it will come in.

Looks Like I'm spending the holidays with a loaner compass.

Kinda bummed this happened on a relatively new vehicle.
