Sound Clip of Air Suspension "discharge" -- Is this normal?

I tried to capture the discharge / ring / ping sounds that some of us have been talking about between a couple different threads. Take a listen.

Does it sound like this guys? Is this normal, and how it is for everyone? If so, then good. The radio will easily drown it out anyway, i just want to make sure nothing is wrong.

Is this recorded from OUTSIDE the Jeep?

From inside only actually. Sorry I thought i mentioned that in the youtube vid or description. I know i meant to at least.

I found that strange as well and more concerning since i could not hear that noise at all from the outside.

I have the same noise. I think its normal. The other noise that drives me crazy is a constant pinging over 60mph. It doesnt just happen once and stop....it keeps going. And yes, the radio should be loud enough to block it out, but once your ear is tuned into it.....its all you (I) hear.

I hear this exact same sound every time I back out of my garage. I don't know if it's normal or not, because I don't claim to know what is causing it. Frequency + consistency does not equal normal, necessarily. However, I have never been bothered by it.

Yep, that's normal. My Touareg and Cayenne, both with air suspension made a similar sound. It's the valve closing on the nitrogen storage tank. Remember, it's under a lot of pressure. If you listen closely you get a similar sound from a compressor when the fill valve closes and you have more than 100lbs of pressure. I've only heard it a couple times on the road and that was when the radio was off and the windows were closed. It happens when it drops to aero height then when it raises as you slow down but it shouldn't cycle. That would indicate a you might have a leak and it's having to adjust height more than normal.

I was also wondering if the noise made by my air suspension is normal, and now thanks to everyone's comments know it is. Mine makes the same noises as the sound clip, can only be heard while inside the vehicle and mostly comes from the back. Regarding the member who said his system continues to make adjustment noises while driving at highway speed, maybe you are hearing the system adjust to aerodynamic mode.

I get the same noise while I'm driving. I too hear more by the back seat area, and until I read this thread thought it was coming from the back door speakers like there was an issue w/ head unit not being able to connect. It's the suspension?
