Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

Sound more like it in the dash to me. Did the dealer say it was the runoff pipe?

Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

Dealer can't figure it out. They said they fixed a squeak. Well it wasn't that one.

Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

I get this same sound in my '11 overland but it's not nearly as loud and only occurs with major vibration or over certain bumps. I have yet to tear into anything but it sounds like it's in the pillar front dash area...almost as if it's something fluttering in the engine compartment/firewall area. I will have to check out the rain run-off pipe area as well.

BTW, it just started doing it after 3yrs or so.

Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

It's not the pillar, the pillar is simple to remove just gentle pry the top part out. There are two push clips and one plastic clip which holds the pillar in place. The last clip can only be removed when you have the pillar loose.

I have literally stuffed clothes and old cut up shirts in between the dash. Still have the squeak.

I may try going from underneath next as I don't think my dealer is going to find this issue.

Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

Still have the sound. I have literally tried stuffing foam and rags in spots all around the area.

If anyone has any Ideas I am all ears!

Yeah I am okay with rattles, but a loud squeak is just something that annoys me. I was on dirt roads and it was horrible. My friends even think it was annoying.

To me it's not acceptable for a vehicle I spent $50K on.

Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

i have a very similar sqeak in my '13.

i think i saw on an earlier thread that an a/c vent was rattling and squeaking.

i need to get under the dash and try to rattle the vent duct on the drivers side.

Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

I have the same sound, I thought it was the cowling at one point. Its strong on the driver side close the wind screen. I have had no luck killing it. Do our struts have a bearing on top, it sounds nearly identical to an old Malibu Ive worked on. Turned out to be the strut bearing was worn. The sound usually goes away after about 5 mins of driving, or rough trails, but man its annoying as can be.
