Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

They must have lubed something else as well, Ive greased and even used felt on the hood height adjusters and still getting the squeak. Its got to be in the hinges or the latch.

Won't lie my hood is a little higher then the fender since they fixed it, so I am assuming they have the rubber stop raised pretty high.

Almost curious if its the hood latch and they have it just tight as a drum. Almost there though I can feel it.

Figured it out, traded it in for a 300S. The rattle from the front, the headliner, rear shock, tailgate, and console. Im over it.

Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

HelixJeep, thanks for the fix. '12 with the EXACT same squeak. I raised the stop a tad on the front driver's side hood and the squeak is gone completely.

I have also had a intermittent "muffled flutter sound" once in a while at 80+ coming from the A-pillar driver side. I also noticed that I could push down the driver's side corner of the hood near the windshield a few millimeters and tap on it, making a loose latch sound. Looking back I think the hood latch at that point gets buffeted at 80+ making that particular noise. Raising the rubber stop also fixes that, it must level the hood so to speak. When I was finding the sweet spot for adjusting the rubber stop, if I raised it too much the hood had a really exaggerated gap, and I could still tap on the corner of the hood. In the end the stop only needed to be raised a little to fix both problems ( the hood corner is solid with no movement)which I think are related. You can raise the stop too much and probably go past the sweet spot for the fix. I thought I would just throw that out there.

Thanks again.

I am glad it's helping others out.

Hi Muzz, I think my '14 JGC Limited have the same noise coming from the chrome trim around the instrument panel. Did you have to remove the trim before applying the loctite?

Thanks.

Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

I have the exact issue. 2014 Overland. Dealer is telling me it's a sub frame panel rubbing together...they ordered the part. We we see if it works...attached is video.

For those of us who are less educated, could you provide some more specifics on how to go about fixing this problem that you've outlined? I have the exact same squeak in my driver side!

Thanks

Re: Squeak In Dash ( driving me nuts)

I fixed the issue after being unsuccessful at two attempts from jeep dealers. I popped the hood, tightened all visible bolts and unscrewed and then rescrewed the rubber hood stops. Not sure what exactly did the trick but the squeek is completely gone!
