Pressing the brake does not kill the engine after you remote start the engine. Pressing the brake and then pressing the start button is required to transition the vehicle from remote start mode to run mode. Pressing the brake while in remote start mode and trying to move the gear selector out of park will not allow the gear selector to move, as it is locked in the park position until you press the brake and the start button simultaneously to transition it to the run mode. For the gear selector to be able move out of park into reverse or drive requires that the car be in run mode.
When I remote start mine, I do not have to hit the brake to get it to turn on. I just did it this morning. I got in, hit the button, and it went into normal driving mode.
I can't move the lever like you said until I hit the button to get it into run mode.
I would blame the stalling on the break in period.
It sounds like all of the weird issues people have, we are told to wait a few more miles and it will go away on it's own.
