Happened on my 2012 quite often. Normally it was right after I filled up with gas. However, the very last time it happened it was in the middle of stop and go traffic with only a half a tank. I have no idea what set it off, but it has been a few months and it just stopped stalling. I'm hoping yours "fixes" itself too.

I'll just wait a couple of months and see what happens. Thanks for telling me!

The stalling was happening a lot longer than 2 months. It started a few months before I got the recall done last year, then it continued even after the work was done. It happened at least once every month or two. However, as I said, it hadn't happened in a while now. I'm crossing my fingers it's done.

That sounds dangerous. I'd talk to a mechanic.

Re: Stalls while driving!! Need help please

It sounds like your Jeep's previous owner did not get the TIPM recall done. Here is a link to a thread about the TIPM Recall T. Many of the symptoms you are reporting are similar to those experienced by owners of vehicles with defective TIPMs.

Best bet would be to take the vehicle to a Jeep dealership and have them check to see if this recall has been performed on your vehicle or not. Even though your vehicle is no longer covered by the original warranty, the recall would be performed at no cost to you if it has not been performed before. It's a simple task for the dealership to know whether or not it has been performed or not simply by entering your VIN in the system. Be sure to tell them you are asking about this because you are experiencing problems specifically addressed in this recall.

If the recall had been performed in the past and your vehicle is still experiencing the problems the external fuel pump relay installation is supposed to alleviate, the dealer should work with you and FCA for a solution since as you will see in the referenced thread, sometimes the "fix" doesn't fix anything.

Let us know how your visit with the dealership goes.

Just an FYI that two days ago my Jeep stalled again while stopping after coming off the freeway. I put the car in neutral to start it but I had to be stopped. I hit the brakes and looked in my rear view mirror and thankfully the dumb person behind me stopped in time or they would have rear ended me. Why she was following so close is beyond me. Anyway, the car started fine.

My 2012 does too. Had TIPM recall done, same issue.

I came across some notes about it being the crank position sensor. Haven't replaced it yet, but its on my list to try as the part is pretty inexpensive.
