I have been reading pages and pages on the forum tonight and thought it could be usefull to provide my personal experience.
First GC2014 (From end of 2013) Overland ecodiesel had had electronic issues every time it stayed under the rain or after a wash: the horn would go on all by itself, no more power steering (nice one) and a very nice Christmas tree all over the dash. Everytime, same answer from the garage, no faulty message...as if it was all in my head. (I am a blonde woman...
This summer, barely 11k km later after a huge storm night, the car went even crazier (throttle error message on screen and the red light on the dash too). The local garage (of course that only happens when you are away on family holidays) found out that the electronic connectors in the box on the passenger side floor were completely corroded, green. The mechanic explained it was probably due to a water leak on the roof or the sun roof...
Back to my local dealer, he couldn't believe it but still took a p*** against the car and I traded in a brand new one (exact same model, only granite instead of dark blue with same beige interior), great team.
Now I read a lot of threads about leaks and liquids all over the place especially a few related to water in that area (passenger side floor), wondering if I didn't have the same disease at the time, that said the correlation with the issues and rain was clear. Also had the FCW issues that thought highway signs were walls or something. All sorted on the new one.
The new one is fine so far, only 60km baby, but keep an eye on that region, there is definitely something weird.
I owned a 2011 Wrangler and the electronic was already a little edgy but it wasn't the same car and use...now if I buy a jeep I expect it to be at least waterproof...
Anyway, the forum has been of massive help in bringing the pieces together and I hope my experience will maybe help a few others.
