Strange FCA Warning

This is not related to the previous FCA thread I started (at least I don't think so).

I have complained periodically about getting the BRAKE warning at odd times. I have noticed that many times when I get it I am going up a hill and there is an overpass ahead and I thought maybe it was picking that up, but that is not a consistent situation.

Today, I was driving on a back road where they are putting in new storm drains. On the weekend, they cover their holes and trenches with steel covers so traffic can proceed. As I approached about half of those steel covers, the BRAKE warning would flash and the tone would sound. The brakes did not engage on any of these.

Is it possible that my sensor is out of adjustment to read both high and low obstacles? I can't grasp how that could be unless it is installed sideways. FCA works when it needs to unless it has inexplicably turned itself off for one of its ten minute rest periods as some of my previous messages have reported, but that hasn't happened since August.

It works great except when FCA turns itself off which is intermittent and seemingly more infrequently lately. I use ACC quite a bit. In fact, when the BRAKE warning comes on, ACC doesn't even hesitate, but continues to run normally without any slowdown.

Re: Strange FCA Warning

Is your active brake forward collision warning turned on or off for active brake on the radio?

Could the brake warning pertain to the parking brake, low brake fluid, or some other mundane thing unrelated to the new, fancy systems?

Don't think so. Everything seems ok. I checked brake fluid when I was looking for the cause of the stain on the garage floor, but it turned out to be a bad shock. Parking brake is working fine and the warning sometimes happens on the expressway, sometimes on regular roads and sometimes on back roads. However, the other day, I was able to get it to off when I approached those steel sheets covering the digging in the road. Over the course of a mile, there were probably seven of them and the warning went off on at least three about 40-50 feet before getting to the sheets.
