Streaming Spotify via Bluetooth issues

Recently got into a '14 WK2 Laredo with the standard 5" screen. I notice I am having an issue trying to stream music from my iphone to GJC. It works great when I am not plugged into usb for charging purposes, but the minute I want to charge the phone via usb, it thinks its an Ipod and will not stream music any longer. Is there a setting or something hiding in the menu's to fix this?

There's no setting I'm aware of, but on my '14 Limited the two USB ports on the back of the console (facing the rear seat) are for charging purposes only - you can plug in an iPhone there and the system won't recognize it (i.e.; it will still stream music via BT with an iPhone plugged in there). Not sure if these two ports exist on the Laredo, however.

buy a 12-volt to USB and plug it into the "cigar lighter" then you can do whatever you want. those USB ports don't output enough power to charge the phone whilst its being used.

Had a similar issue trying to stream rhapsody from iphone when plugged into the USB. Discovered I needed at least one single song via iTunes so I chose john cage's '4'33'. Four minutes of silence as sometimes that song randomly plays before rhapsody starts.
