Strong Gasoline Odor at Rear on WK2

I have had a very strong gasoline odor two separate times from my WK2 hemi 4WD that seems to be in the area of the gas filler tube. Both times occurred after climbing mountain passes for several miles at 60+ mph. Also both times I attempted to then add fuel with the gas gauge at less than 1/2, but each time the gas pump nozzle would click off immediately when started. I am unable to fill only about one gallon of fuel. What is going on here?

Sounds like (and I don't even know if this is possible) that your line to the gas tank from the fuel receiver has become disconnected. I would check that connection out. And don't smoke while driving until you get that fixed.

Re: Strong Gasoline Odor at Rear on WK2

I continue to experience the strong gas odor from the rear of the vehicle after towing to higher elevations (see original post on 9/11/2012). This is now a serious problem. The last time this occurred, along with the gas odor, was a very rough running engine that shook the whole vehicle. The engine service light was on as well. The next morning after cooldown the engine started and ran normally. I believe the gas odor is actually ethanol. It would appear that the fuel system is vapor locking. Anyone else having the same problem? Is there a solution?
