Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

I tried to put it into 4low after the error occurred on both occasions. Once the error occurs it will not go into 4low. In fact, the control for 4high/low seemed inoperable.

I think it's best to go 4low in sand after reading the above. As long as drive continues to all four wheels I don't care how many errors it throws up (unless they are suspension failure errors causing loss of clearance).

I guess 4LOW with a slightly lower momentum (speed ~30k) would be a better option than getting bogged down

By the way I got a call from Jeep Australia customer relationship officer (which was a momentous occasion) but only to repeat the same thing - "a fix has already been developed and its currently being tested".

Are you willing to name this person?

I posted elsewhere that I got an email today from Chrysler noting that an update is 2 weeks away.

I was told the same thing a month ago here in the states from my service manager. It doesn't mean they are anywhere close to delivering it, they could spend another 3 months testing it. It's just a nice way for them to get you from continuing to call.

That is the same experience I had. Once I got the error there was no way to clear it (at least none that I was aware of) and no way to select a different 4WD setting until I got towed back to solid ground. Now, after the fact the service tech told me to disconnect the negative battery cable for 15 minutes and that would clear it, and also to put the transfer case in neutral (by using the little reset button) and then back to 4WD. Not sure if that actually works or not. The folks on this forum know more from sharing information than the techs do.

On the comment that a fix has already been developed, and is being tested?

I have been told this by my dealer since march....how long does testing take? Maybe they should have done this testing prior to releasing the vehicle to the market

I can say with certainty that in my case the little neutral button does not work when the light is on. I tried everything. No air suspension, no Selec-Terrain, no 4WD low, no neutral, no hope, no way, no how! The radio does still work so at least you can stay entertained while waiting for a tow truck!

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

After sending off an email a couple of weeks ago to CJD Aus requesting a confirmation in writing that the vehicle was either designed and capable of being driven on sand or that there was a known issue I got a stock standard reply "we'll look into it and get back to you", they did give me a reference number for my troubles.

I sent a reminder off to them this week and mentioned that I have been waiting patiently for a response and have not received one and mentioned "fit for purpose" and CTTT I got a response stating that they have a fix and it is due for release in 2-3 weeks. If it is not released in 3 weeks I may look at raising an issue with the CTTT based on the issue being known and not dealt with in an acceptable timeframe.

They have been saying 2 weeks for months, and the other version is the fix is currently undergoing testing. It should be available in a week or two. My mate was told this last October, nearly 12 months ago

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

Oh well, if that is the case then it looks like I'll get a refund - or at least try. I made it abundantly clear to them what my angle was and that was for them to -

a) confirm it was fit for purpose as advertised and if I then encounter an error I informed them I would be taking the issue further as the vehicle would no longer be fit for purpose

or

b) confirm there was a known issue and provide a timeline for a rectification of the issue, if the timeline was not known or not adhered to I also informed them I would take further action

They confirmed there was an issue and advised the time frame, I reminded them if it is not adhered to I would seek a full refund as the vehicle was advertised as being capable of sand driving which, to me, was a major selling point.

The good news is that they do have a history of fixing these issues. As others have stated however, the bad news is it's never 2 weeks. But they do get there eventually.
