I did a couple of steep dunes and also drove from Stockton to Anna Bay and for a change there were no issues.

Still a bit puzzled about the ABS; whether the local service guy got the terminology wrong or not ! Has anyone else heard from Jeep / had the software tweak ?
No, but I was there on Sunday. Went from Lavis Lane to Anna Bay.

Front and rear diff ratios have to be the same ratio. So if rear is 3.45, so must the front. Otherwise drive train will wind up very quickly.

Standard CRD is 3.45

Only if the centre diff was locked.

Interpreting the Wk2 site for gear ratios can be misleading, leaves out a few things. Look at the spec sheets for each model and model year for gear ratios. Front and rear will have the same ratio +/- 0.05. The front axle housing is the same in all vehicles, there are three housing variants on the rear, one iron and two aluminum, one of the aluminum has ELSD, the other not. The three housings use different size so called metric gear sets.

Ok, according to my building sheet I have 195mm in my V6 front and rear. How does that fit into?

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

This is from my build sheet:
DBAC All Automatic Transmissions
DGJ 5-Speed Auto W5A580 Transmission
DJCS 195MM Front Axle
DKAS 2 Speed on Demand Transfer Case
DLKP 3.44 Overall Top Gear Ratio
DR1P 230MM Rear Axle
DSFP Elec LTD Slip Differential Rr Axle
DS7S Conventional Differential Frt Axle
So I have a 195mm front and a 230mm rear axle. Don't know how this translates into diff ratios.

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

The front and rear diff ratios have to be the same otherwise one axle would get driven at a different speed to the other...

This is true but only if the centre differential is locked. The front an rear diffs allow the opposite wheels to travel at different speeds. This is necessary when cornering. Likewise, the centre diff allows the front axles to turn at a different speed to the rear axles which is also necessary when cornering.

Centre diff is locked in 4lo.

Of course the front and rear axles are allowed to rotate at different speed when the centre diff is not locked - but if the front and rear diff ratios were different it would be pointless because only one axle would get all of the drive and the other would effectively be "pulled" along by the momentum of the vehicle (just as one wheel is pulled along quicker when going around a corner). May as well be a 2wd in that case. Unless the centre diff had 2 different ratios - one for front and one for rear...
