Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

Brett- is the temp fix you are speaking about the ABS module reflash?

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

Yes, the ABS system is part of the problem, but the fix is a flash of the drive train control module. My understanding is that the drive train control module disables the 4wd because of the input from the ABS module.

Thanks for the post Brett. This is what "facts" look like. I don't think you can get any factual more than this. Now, they need to get this widespread.

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

Went out at Cape Henlopen this morning, same place the 4wd failed last week. No issues, did some circles in the deep sand to recreate the same scenario.

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

Apparently an official software fix has recently been released for this issue:

Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

If you live outside the US, still no official fix here in the states.

I read that someone here in the US got this resolved recently.

It was on another forum.

Any info would be appreciated.

I had this fix applied last week (in North Carolina) but have not had a chance to test it out yet, probably can't make it down to the beach for a couple weeks. I really don't know much about it, the service manager didn't get too many details and I wasn't there when the regional tech came down to ask any questions. I just know it's supposed to fix the problem. I don't know if it's the same upgrade that the Aussie's have been getting but I imagine it would be. Seems to be held up from being released in the US pending some government approval. There is some better information floating around from a couple of the Aussie's that had it applied.

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

I'm waiting for this to more mainstream in the US before I head down to the dealer.

Would this type of TSB fall under power train? I now have 45k miles so out of the B2B.

Also, as a US update: JeepCares recently responded to my question re Chrysler's fix on this and basically said he had no idea what was taking so long. It's crazy how long jeep is taking to fix this.

Hi, first post and new to the forum...mostly because of this issue. I was on the beach in Brigantine, NJ where the sand was deep and this happened to me, the 4wd serv light came on and it just stopped working. I had the error code C006A-62 multi-axis speed sensor signal comparative failure and had a ABS module software update. I've since had it on the beach, but had it in low just in case. I am hesitant to use the hi setting as I don't want to get stuck again. Did you have yours in hi when you went back on the beach?

Spjam- I've been back to the beach twice in the same sand level I got the serv 4wd error. I haven't had any issues and I've been in 4hi sand mode both times. When I got the error originally I was in 4hi auto mode.
