What year is that? I have a 2012 Overland Summit and I'm starting to get worried whether it'll get stuck or not.

Mine is a 2012 Laredo with the off-road I package.

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences. After prowling on the board it appears Chrysler does have a fix for it (since Feb 2012) but I'm a bit peeved that they won't automatically do the fix for all the cars BEFOREHAND. Do JGC owners really have to be stuck in the middle of offroading nowhere before the fix is applied? I have a 2012 Overland with QL, it has 2900 miles on it and I guess I will ask the dealer when I do the oil change - before I take it out to the Anza Borrego deserts here in Southern California!

I agree! My Jeep went to the dealer's repair 3x for an unrelated problem and I really doubt they put this fix onto my Jeep. I might need to schedule an appointment just for them to do this.

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

I had mine in today for its complimentary 1000km service, I asked about any outstanding updates. The dealer had already done a search on outstanding updates to which he informed me there were none.

Given my recent research i informed him of the 08-034-012 TSB that should be applied to all vehicles manufactured before May 2012 (mine is April 2012 build), after a little convincing and him searching he agreed that it should and would be applied.

From my experience today I think Jeep have 2 categories for updates - "must have" (as in something that may cause them warranty claims) and then "only if customer complains" which the Quadra Lift update seems to fall into.

The service dept were good though and had no issues with completing the works. I would suggest keeping an eye on all TSB's released and requesting them complete the works on each service.

I'm nowhere near confident enough to take the thing onto Stockton Beach though, which was one of the main reasons I bought the bloody thing!

Not for mine, I don't have the QL and have been told they are still working on it as of yesterday.

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

750 - I think you hit it on the head. Add my experience today: I brought my JGC in because the automatic headlight control no longer worked, and also asked them to check on TSB 08-34-12 and TSB 18-001-11 - both of which based on research on this board seemed to have had something to do with folks getting 4wd or air suspension malfunctions while driving on sand. The SA ran my VIN and said it didn't look like they applied to my vehicle, but asked the mechanic assigned to the vehicle to double check (and it was great that I provided the paper TSBs to him - made everything simple - he put it together with the work order). It turns out they did do the software update for TSB 08-34-12 (the other one applied to 2011 WK2) - so it's obvious that it's not obvious to the SA, based on the information he has in his computer, whether the work is necessary. Kudos to SA for asking the mechanic to make sure. Now I will hit the desert with a bit less trepidation.

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

Tried to do Stockton again today. Whatever update they applied did not work. I don't think it's fair that these cars are marketed for use at the beach when they don't work on sand. Surely they should disclaim this on all their marketing material. E.g. Offroad use does not include sand.

It really is embarrassing to need to be towed of in a brand new$60k 4wd. I really hope someone from jeep is looking at this forum, Milous can you help us at all with some decent contacts? We need some traction as jeep Australia just doesn't seem to care

Re: STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction

It's especially bad considering Jeep Aus' new ad consists of the GC on a beach, in more than one shot btw, and it seems to be doing fine. I can't blame Jeep Aus entirely though as they are only getting fed info by the US...
