Thats of some help but id also ask if removing the fuse to the mirror lights would prevent current to all wires up there or if there is still one thats hot. Also, what else does that fuse serve?

Re: Sun Visor Recall

Against my better judgement, I too felt guilted into being a "good consumer" after a reasonable amount of time for the techs to familiarize themselves with this procedure, took the Jeep in today to have this recall performed. They called me at 4:30pm to inform me that the tech was "having some issues getting the headliner reinstalled", and it wouldn't be ready today. I'm rather concerned now...

What I'm suspecting is that they damaged something badly enough that they had to order a replacement from the warehouse and it won't arrive until tomorrow.

Probably would have been better/safer to just leave it as it came from the factory - unless of course some other service issue required work in that area, in which case the recall would have to be done at the same time.

Re: Sun Visor Recall

Well that didn't go so well. Went to pick it up at the end of the 2nd day they've had it to discover broken clips on a door sill plate causing it to flop around, the A pillar where it meets the dash is shoved in and not flush like the other side.

Then while doing the brake booster recall they broke the clips on one side of the cowl cover, broke a clip on the cowl extension panel and incorrectly installed the booster shield with the tabs sticking out and wrapping around the front (not even adhered due to a failure to clean the rustproof off first).
On top of it all, I left them 10 quarts of oil (2x5Q jugs) and they didn't give me any back. When I asked for the remainder they produced one of my jugs with 1Q in it. When I explained the dry capacity of my engine is only 7Q they got upset. *sigh* There's more, but I won't go on.

So now they're keeping it over night again, and I'm in a micro-rental car.

Sun Visor Recall

Ugh. That sucks. I had mine done yesterday along with the ORC recall and I can't even tell they did anything. Props to my dealer for not messing anything up that I can tell. I did get a patriot rental for a day. Makes you appreciate the GC a lot more, although my dealer sells them for about $15K. Not a bad price for a good size vehicle.

That's why as long as mine is running perfectly (as it has from day one), no dealer is going to touch it! Sorry to hear of those issues.

I had the sun visor recall done about 4-5 months ago, and I couldn't even tell they had touched my Jeep. Now I had the ORC recall done with not as much luck. When I got the Jeep back, 4 interior panels were scuffed up along with scratches on my $50 custom sun shade (I suspect they used it to prop up the rear console when replacing the part). Sun shade issue REALLY made me mad because of lack of respect for my personal items. Yes it is just a sun shade but it was brought in without scratches and it should have been returned to me in the same condition. They repaced the panels without any further damage, they had the tech be very gentle and I was very happy with his work. Poor guy took a lot of time being careful so I gave him a tip and thanked him in person.

My point being do not just assume they are going to be super careful when tearing apart your vehicle. If you are one of those people who really cares about the interior of your vehicle, you need to specifically tell them before they start the recall what your expectations are with how it has to look after it is done. I am NOT saying they aren't careful and I cannot imagine how much fun it is to tear these vehicles apart. I think they are pressured to get them out the door quickly and they do the best they can with the time they have. Most people probably don't know they've even had their vehicle fixed if there are already some scuffs and scrapes before the recall (that most people have). But if you don't have any, and some appear, it's very obvious.

Which panels were scratched durning the ORC recall? I looked mine over when I had it done and didn't see any marks but maybe I didn't look in the right spot.

Does anyone have a copy of the ORC recall instructions? I'd like to see what's
involved to do the recall.

I had a chunk out of the bottom of my glove box. The console back panel (in the back seat) had a chunk out of it on the lower right corner by the vents. The driver side seat has two little guards that cover where it pivots to recline, and one was scuffed really really bad on the side towards the center console - and you do see that when the seat is all the way back . They also nicked up the plastic on the panel that goes up and around my radio; on the right lower edge by the storage cubby and towards the front of the cupholders. On an area where I already had scuffs, which was the passenger side area where the seatbelt clicks and the metal of the seatbelt had hit the plastic, I swear there were more marks than before . I complained about it but since I'd already damaged it, they were not quite as eager to replace it, which I totally understand.

When they actually replaced the panels, one of the new panels that came in was badly scuffed, which was the one that went up and around my radio. When they told me they were going to have to take my radio out and part of the dash apart to replace it, I decided I'd live with a few little dings in it. I had already touched it up with a slate grey Sharpie, just playing around to see if it would work, and it looked pretty good anyway. I had a suspicion had they taken my dash apart there would have been more damage and it would have been apt to rattle. On a good note I think they must have felt bad they couldn't replace that one panel so they did replace the one I had scratched with the seatbelt clip which was awesome.

Bad stuff happens but the dealership has taken care of me each time.

Some of you are probably thinking I have been overly critical of the work done to the interior of my vehicle. Well, I paid a lot of money for it and the work done to the interior of my vehicle was not my choice but as a result of recall. My expectation is that it come back to me in the same condition it went to them (as I've said before). And when I found my sun shade has been scratched I got out the proverbial magnifying glass and looked it over carefully because I was mad. I don't have kids and rarely do we have passengers in my Jeep, so the interior of it looks pretty much like the day it came off the lot. I am probably very unlike most females in the respect that I keep my vehicle looking as new as I can. : )

Anyway that is my story.

I think they are on NHTSA.gov site under recalls. I put the link in another thread about the recall if you can find it. That is how I was able to see what panels were affected by the recall so I had ground to stand on when I complained about my interior damage to the dealership.
