Re: Sun Visor Recall

Good god. I had this recall done as well at the same time as the sun visor and brake booster. I had no idea all this console had to be disassembled. I didn't even check those areas for damage. Great. More things to verify tomorrow.

Be thankful it has removable side panels for access...the '99-'04 WJ required the whole tunnel to come out for access....I had mine out 4 times for dash removal....

Yes it can with all those airbag recalls. Thank goodness that doesn't apply to our Jeeps (yet).

Yeah but my damage was pretty apparent and I noticed it right when I picked it up.

If you didn't see anything right away you are probably fine.

Then while doing the brake booster recall they broke the clips on one side of the cowl cover, broke a clip on the cowl extension panel and incorrectly installed the booster shield with the tabs sticking out and wrapping around the front (not even adhered due to a failure to clean the rustproof off first).
On top of it all, I left them 10 quarts of oil (2x5Q jugs) and they didn't give me any back. When I asked for the remainder they produced one of my jugs with 1Q in it. When I explained the dry capacity of my engine is only 7Q they got upset. *sigh* There's more, but I won't go on.

So now they're keeping it over night again, and I'm in a micro-rental car.
Well, they did a little better today, but not great. The sill panel was replaced, but is still a little loose. They must have damaged whatever it clips into. The A pillar is better, but not like it was from the factory. The cowl extension (actually called a dash silencer?) upper and lower are back ordered, so that's not fixed.

You can tell they just shoved the brake booster shield back a bit further. So the tabs are in the right place now, but still not adhered very well due to not cleaning first.

I asked if they had checked the oil level to ensure that the missing two quarts didn't end up in my crankcase as overfill. Advisor assured me they checked and it was "good to go". So I go outside with my trusty shop towel from home and check the dip stick, check it again, check it a third time to make sure... and the oil level is a good two inches above the "SAFE" zone on the dipstick. Guess I found those missing two quarts.... Idiots. So they drained out the excess and comp'd me two quarts of Penzoil Ultra.

So it's gotta go back in a week when the rest of the parts arrive. Sucks that the clips are broken off the lower half of the cowl extension. To get that out they have to disassemble a lot of crap as it support brake lines and a bunch of other stuff and is fastened below a strut top etc.

Doesnt that make you mad how they just tear up your jeep like that and dont care a bit. They left my whole air box unhooked sucking unfiltered air for 5k miles when they did the brake booster. Jeep is the worst dealer i have experienced for service ever.
