Re: Sunroof buffeting sound?

yes....the rear shade does cover the extended rear pano roof, as well as the front sunroof.

The only buffeting that I've experienced in this vehicle is when I have a rear passenger window open to let some air in the back for my dog. Opening a front window a couple of inches solves the issue.
Same results, up to 85mph... The cloth barrier doesn't move or flap, which really surprised me.

Sounds like the OP has something wrong broken and needs to get the dealer to check it out.

First off, the cloth wind barrier is very poorly designed. It not only doesnt work very well, but it violently shakes in the wind.

Also because it doesnt really alter the wind much, I getr a terrible buffeting sound unless I open another window. This is exactly what the barrier was designed to prevent.

I am betting this is something that will be corrected in the next version, I have never had a cloth/nylon barrier there in any car I have owned.
I have noticed this but even more annoying is when the sunroof is closed while driving over 50 mph it doesn't seal and a slight wind sound can be heard. If the speed is dropped to something less and the sunroof is opened slightly and closed again, the sound goes away.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Sunroof buffeting sound?

The pano sunroof can be adjusted, if you are experiencing wind noise while closed then you need to take it in for service and get adjusted. The pano roof in the jeep works great, especially compared to our CTS. The sunroof cover in the cts is thinner then most bedsheets and does VERY little to block noise or cold from penetrating the cabin.

Re: Sunroof buffeting sound?

We are enjoying temps in the mid-70's today and I had a chance to get out to run some errands. I specifically observed the performance of the cloth air dam at highway speeds (55-75 mph).

It deployed and performed flawlessly throughout the speed range. No flapping, hissing, bending or collapsing of the hardware, and no buffeting with or without windows cracked.

Re: Sunroof buffeting sound?

I tested mine yesterday after reading the beginning few posts in this thread. Mine was fine from 0mph all the wy up to 75mph with no buffeting or flapping of the cloth screen. I compared it to my wife's 2008 Liberty Limited, and hers has a rigid plastic piece with small slots in it instead of the cloth piece, and hers actually has some slight buffeting at certain speeds, at about 38mph and again at about 62mph. Her Liberty is the worst at buffeting with one of the rear passenger windows open about halfway and no other windows nor the sunroof open. The 2011 WK2 buffets a little with just one rear passenger window partially open, but not nearly as bad as the Liberty.

Re: Sunroof buffeting sound?

Crack the back windows. Problem solved.

The buffeting is much, much, much, much less than the two Tahoes or Yukon I used to own. Now THAT was a racket that made your eardrums hurt.

BTW... 75 degrees here today. Turned on the fan in the seat. WOOO!!!!!! I think I'm going to like this feature.

Re: Sunroof buffeting sound?

No problems with mine either. Come to think of it, I would normally never have the sunroof open but the windows fully closed anyways.

Re: Sunroof buffeting sound?

You guys with warm weather are making me jealous. But I can also say the pano roof has been working fine when I dare to open it for testing. No buffeting at normal speeds up to and including highway, the front baffle works well and no wind sounds when closed.

I looked at a Summit yesterday and the fabric isn't the one with the tiny holes in it so it does block out light, and I still don't like it. It must have been a Land Rover I looked at and confused with the GC.

I was told I could get a deal on the Summit they had but wasn't crazy about the only interior color choice it comes in and it was only a V6.

Re: Sunroof buffeting sound?

Am I the only one that didn't know that the sunroof also has a vent position where the rear of the sunroof cracks open a bit and the front portion stays down? I was surprised when I accidentally hit the Vent button and the back end popped up.
