system low voltage?

I've a 2011 WK2 Overland.. have had it for 3 years now and 45K miles. It's had trouble starting the last week or so and this morning, it wouldn't start at all. Was able to jump it, though and it threw a check engine light. I used my OBDII scanner to find out it's a "System Voltage low" error (P0562). Could I possibly need to replace my battery already? after only 3 years?

When you consider cold cranking in the northern climes, high heat in the sunbelt, and the level of electronics on today's vehicles, 3 years is typical battery life in my experience. Better batteries have a 5 year warranty, but then prorated at time of replacement. It seems to be a racket to keep you coming back to the same supplier.

Perhaps battery life is improved with relocation out of the engine compartment.

Re: system low voltage?

I always replace batteries on their fourth birthday. Better safe than sorry. YMMV

Re: system low voltage?

Doesn't seem unreasonable, although I wouldnt be happy about replacing it that early either. Acura's are notorious for having weak batteries that die within 3 to 4 years. Mine would work so hard to start the car sometimes I had it checked at about the 1.5 year mark and it just barely passed spec. On the other hand the battery in my summer car is at 7 years now I just want to see how long it lasts at this point.
