Taking ownership of new jeep... what should I look for?

Hey all... should be picking up my jeep tomorrow. Any tips or things I should look for before I take control of it? Its a V6 Limited earlier build (sept I think) so there should be a few TSB's I need to look at and led lights in the door. I just want to take care of it now, as it sounds like when you pull off the lot you lose a lot of leverage.

Thanks!!!

Check out body for the damage, including the roof. Turn on and use EVERYTHING. Your user's guide is on the "shelf" at the top of the glove compartment

Re: Taking ownership of new jeep... what should I look for?

do a bunch of walk arounds...drive it for 20 miles, use everything (cruise control, radio, a/c etc) and then take it back and pop the hood. Look for any fluids, increase in engine temp, check rear diff visually (I always look for rust IDK its a personal thing haha), tires and listen to the brakes, step on them hard too during drive. listen for rattles...I personally take buying a used car to the extreme, but again personal preference...good luck

and it may be helpful to list year and trim level, options if known

Re: Taking ownership of new jeep... what should I look for?

Quick question.... Dealer wasnt able to get the jeep from another dealer that we agreed on, but found an almost identical one minus a tow package. Any reason why base price is different for the two? This ones base price is 395 cheaper. Obviously Im not counting the tow package but the base price on the online window sticker is cheaper. Same jeep limited 4x4 and same colors. They are from different States. Dealer says prices fluctuate and hes been really good so far. Just want to make sure Im not missing a GPS UNIT or something? Thanks again!

heated seats front and rear? nav IIRC is a more expensive option that $395...did you go to Jeep's website and put in the vin numbers? you should be able to view all factory options on both rigs and go from there...

Re: Taking ownership of new jeep... what should I look for?

dealer called back.... i guess it was a 430 radio and not the 430n. The search continues....

Where on the Jeep site can you run the VIN?

Thanks... cant seem to find on it where it would say what type of radio you have. Havent seen that info on any of these computer generated stickers unless it was an upgraded 730. Am I missing something?

Re: Taking ownership of new jeep... what should I look for?

That VIN site for the window sticker is not always correct. I ordered the 430N radio, which was standard with the OL when I ordered, and that's what came in the Jeep. But the VIN window sticker shows it as having a 730N radio.
