Thinking of just selling the Jeep and being done with the shudder problems

I was thinking today about just selling the Jeep and let it be someone elses problems (trading it in, not a private party sale). I stopped by my local dealer and they offered me a deal on a new 2011 F150 Ecoboost SCrew FX4 that I am having a hard time passing up. My payments would actually go done slightly with the incentives available.

So in this thought process I thought of all the stuff I have for the WKII and that some on here may like to have a shot at it. Here is the list of things, I am not sure what I paid for most of them but I will accept reasonable offers (I got most everything for cost when I bought it):

Roof cross bars (SOLD)
Rear cargo all weather floor mat
Roof canvas bag
Rear dog pillow
(Paid $430 for all the above accessories)

Mopar all weather floor mats (paid $71)
BWoody Intake (Painted black with silver vein, a good match to the Dark Charcoal Pearl) (paid $280)
Chrome fog light bazel (paid $80)
Shark fin antenna (installed but would remove, new owner would have to install new tape to stick to new roof) (paid $67.20)
I have a 5.7L Hemi Badge (paid $10)
NAV-TV with A/V Harness (paid $290)

Let me know, probably going to trade it in within a few days.

Man today is a bad day on the forums. Cancelled orders, interior fires, trades because of problems..... Sorry to see your frustrated with the Jeep. When you say transmission problems is it the shudder issue that your referring to?

Yes, I guess I am being presumptiuous in saying it is the transmission, but I mean the shudder.

man i would not do it. i a a couple of friends that have problem with the electrical system and drive software system. you would be trading one problem for another. i owned 3 F-250 diesels one was bought back, one blew a head, and the last one was traded with a blown head. all under warranty, no mods, and Ford would not do a thing for me. i know you are looking at the F-150 but still. i would not do it. they are horrible in the snow, and the 4x4 system has electrical issue when it gets wet. just my .02 though

Re: Thinking of just selling the Jeep and being done with the tranmission problems

I have owned 3 F150's before this Jeep (07 FX4, 10 FX4, 10 SVT Raptor) all 3 of which I enjoyed. The 10 FX4 had some sun roof problems but my dealer was taking care of me.

Not going to sway me away from F150's, this Jeep has caused me more problems than all 3 F150's combined and two of them were heavily modded.

07 F150 FX4
6" Skyjacker suspension lift
Roush Intercooled supercharger running 10psi
Custom dual exhaust
Tons of visual mods

10 SVT Raptor
Long tube headers with complete aftermarket/custom exhaust
Hot Rod Cams
(Supporting mods)
Traction bars

Neither of these came me any headaches.

I love my F150's and Jeep lured me over with the great looking and wonderful riding Cherokee, I just got a bad one :(

It really sucks this had to happen to someone that came over from another brand. At least you realize you just got a bad egg and don't condemn Jeep.

Hopefully one day they will have found what the problem is so we can all rest at night.

Re: Thinking of just selling the Jeep and being done with the tranmission problems

Just picked my 2011 F-150 xlt supercrew on Saturday i went with the 5.0 though, i was kinda leary of the new twin turbo v6. Go drive one, ford made one heck of a truck for 2011.
I drove both the 5.0L and the 3.5L Ecoboost. The motor is sort of new but has been around since early 2010 in the Taurus SHO, it is also available now on other platforms as well.

The 5.0L sounded really good and couldn't tell a ton of difference in pull between the two. In fact, I would have to say the 5.0L is more responsive to throttle changes. The Ecoboost though for me is perfect, it has the torque when needed but I am hoping to see a good increase in light load trips and around town.

Re: Thinking of just selling the Jeep and being done with the tranmission problems

I would definitely get the F150.

It is not a direct competitor to the Jeep so there is no use comparing the vehicles.. you are simply frustrated with your lemon and want to move forward. Nothing wrong with that and you will be much happier.

Good luck.

Re: Thinking of just selling the Jeep and being done with the tranmission problems

Can't really blame you for the decision to trade it. When you buy a new vehicle and it has an issue like this and the vehicle has to be torn apart to fix it several times it is never the same. Chrysler really needs to figure out this shutter issue and get it corrected, other than hard core jeep fans people are not going to put up with it too many other choices out there. I have not had the shutter issue but I have had some other problems with my new jeep. I will never buy a first year model from any manufacture again. I really blame myself because I knew this before I ordered, but I didn't want to wait another year.

I would be all over the Raptor SCrew as I loved my Raptor SCab but the 6.2L, 4.10 gearing and 35" tires add up to 14mpg advertised hwy, with gas prices going where they are going, I don't want to be responsible for filling it up :)

Re: Thinking of just selling the Jeep and being done with the tranmission problems

That's a big bummer man. I saw your last post a couple of days ago. You still have not gotten a satisfactory response out of Chrysler? Are they still working on this at all?

Have you told the Chrysler reps this is what you are thinking of doing? The last thing they need is unhappy people abandoning their cars that are only a few months old. Word will get around quickly. I would also tell them that there are many current and prospective Jeep owners interested in how they address and handle your situation. That's just me. I am sure they know about this web-site and they know that people are coming here before making a buy decision.

I might be interested in your roof rails. I'll send you an e-mail later today when I get home.

Chrysler has not contacted me since February 22nd. I have left two messages, neither of which were returned.

Dropping the Jeep off tonight, no more Jeep after 3pm.

Several sales pending on the intake and bazels.

Ram over F-150

Sorry to hear about your Jeep issues. There's always a few lemons. I think you should seriously consider the Ram. I've driven both and I own a Laramie Ram 1500 Crew loaded and there's no contest. The interior is much nicer IMO than the F-150 and the design of the truck is sleeker. I love the Ram Box, the power with the 3.92s and the HEMI. And that spring suspension makes the ride super smooth!

Jeep is gone, F150 SCrew Ecoboost in my drive way :)
Enjoy the new truck!!! I abandoned the order on my Overland Summit because I had been waiting 3 months on my order with no movement. I was so frustrated that no one could give me a reason why. Also concerned about problems with the Grand Cherokee that I had read on here, including the shudder issue. So I got a 2011 F-150 4X4 Platinum edition with the 5.0L this past Wednesday and couldn't be happier. I absolutely love the truck. Ford did an awesome job. I got a great deal as well. Ended up costing me less than the Summit would have. Stickered at $52000 and got it for $41000. Congrats on the new ride!

I paid $42 for it December 22nd, I got $38,700 trade in and 3000 below invoice on the new truck (with $3000 in incentives for $40,000), total difference I had to eat was $1300, I fealt pretty good about this given the Jeep was so new, The Ecoboost F150 was just realeased like less than a month ago, I got $800 in accessories to boot. Also, I get to sell all the stuff on the Jeep, half of which was bought with the Jeep and was included in the $42,000.

I couldn't have asked for a better deal, other than not having to do it. I have bought over 6 vehicles from this Ford dealer since 2003, 3 of which were new, so they take care of me.

Sounds like you got a very good deal. Enjoy the new F150.

I know you didn't get the Raptor, but that is a seriously bad ass truck. Not sure if you ever watched the Top Gear episode with it, but this truck got put through it's paces. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5paAXmf_8A

Thanks for all of your contributions on this site. You made this a better board.
