Tilt Steering

Stopped at the car wash the other day to give the girl a cleaning and when I got back in the steering wheel wouldn't lower. Tried the button but nada.

The telescopic works but not the raise/lower.

I'm thinking blown fuse?

Re: Tilt Steering

Usually there would be a reason that you blew a fuse.

In this instance, if you were to give it a go do you hear anything from the motor at all?

The reason that I ask is because if you are hearing NOTHING from the motor, it sounds like there is a potential that it is not getting current because of a bad/disconnected wire - or worse, a brush (inside the motor) that is not making contact to the commutator.

Try the fuse first --- but it sounds like there is something more here...

Contacted the dealer, Aparently the whole steering column needs to be replace. They ordered the part and in the meantime it start working again lol but I decided to replace anyway.
Did that yesterday .

Woah

The whole steering column ? Mine has been dead for 3 days but each time I get in to the truck I try it again? Like somehow it's going to magically start working. Doing something over and over and expecting a different result each time. There's a name for that.

Did yours quit after you washed it?

It's booked for a service repair this coming Monday. I sure don't want it to start working when I drop it of. That would be bad.

Update...
I came out of work today and jump in the beast which is already running. We had a bit of snow some of which had melted on the windshield. So I turn on the wipers and nothing... seriously.. now the wipers don't work. So like the previous 10 times I try the tilt to see if it's still dead. To my amazement it works like a charm Then my brain kicks in and I realize I haven't hit the brake pedal and actually started the truck. (I'm 3 weeks new to this feature) Bingo the wipers work and ...... the tilt still works. What is going on??

Do I now cancel the service for Monday?

Or do I bring it in so at least it's documented?

Re: Tilt Steering

Mine did the same thing ( started working again ..maybe after 1 month or so and yeah i tried to see if its working again every day)
I wish i canceled my appointment because I was just past the 36k miles warranty so the life time warranty kicked in and I had to pay 100$(deductible) to have the replacement.
