Why? Because they butchered your wiring instead of replacing the module?
Just curious because a coworker (has max care) went in for the repair. They said the TIPM would be replaced under warranty but he would end up coming back once a recall is issued for the hack job. They suggested he just pay out of pocket and get reimbursed when the recall came in. Of course he declined and had a new TIPM installed.

Yea I don't get that either?? Why wouldn't MaxCare cover a new TIPM module?
I would insist that they do the repair the "right way"!

Re: TIPM Recall

According to 2 dealers I talked today, they have not received the recall yet. I called Chrysler and all the girl could tell me was that my 2011 GC was not made during the production dates of the recall. I asked what the production dates were and she said she couldn't find that info. MY GC is going to the dealer tomorrow, via AAA, as it has not run for 2 wks. I am sending along info from this site, so dealer has an idea what is wrong with the GC.

Why not? Either because Chryco is a bunch of asshats, or because the recall has not officially been announced, or there is a shortage of replacement parts, or all three. I also opened up a Chrysler Case number, which has not helped at all.

Despite above and other's examples, pressing Chryco and my service guys to replace the TIPM vs. wiring workaround was not going to happen pre-recall, for me at least. I only caved to the wiring patch to get this vehicle running again.

Further, Chryco knowingly keeps putting these faulty TIPMs/fuel pump relays into vehicles, which is ridiculous if not negligent. No wonder there are class actions - others, like me, will simply not buy another.

Re: TIPM Recall

I had my TIPM replaced a couple weeks ago and it did not fix my starting problem. After the dealership unsuccessfully trying to figure out the issue for more than a week I sent them the star case doc from this site. They ordered the parts last week.

Latest from the dealership:

"No parts yet, they were upgraded yesterday to special handling to try to expedite them. These are the fuelpump internal relay bypass parts, some type of a recall for this concern coming down the road but I donít know when yet."

That makes absolutely no sense at all?? They replaced your TIPM a couple of weeks ago, but that didn't fix your non-starting issues......Now they want to hack your main harness to jump the internal fuel pump relay on a brand new TIPM module??
What was the part # on the new TIPM they installed? Somebodies not telling you the truth here...... Are you sure they actually replaced the TIPM? Doesn't sound like that actually was done!

If they installed a new TIPM & that didn't fix your non-starting issue.....& now they want to jump the internal fuel pump relay on a brand new TIPM module.... You need to find a new dealer with some competent service techs right away! You might need a new WIN module, see post# 79 of this thread.

Re: TIPM Recall

I've been having this issue for years now but it was only sporadic (once every few months) until recently when it became more and more frequent to the point of it not starting last Wednesday. Finally after trying to start w the key, it worked and I drove directly to dealer.

They put me in a rental until the recall was to launch last Friday. It didn't launch of course, so Chrysler has continued to pay for my rental... but the dealership is taking matters into its own hands and going ahead w the repair (no cost) and will deal with Chrysler for me as a courtesy. Very grateful to them for that.

FYI mine is 2011 (Hemi'4wd) with 61k miles.

Re: TIPM Recall

Got tired of hearing the relays were on national backorder. Found an aftermarket relay kit from a local vendor (under $20 for the relay kit and fuse holder) and installed it. It's a simple job if you are decent with wiring. And by decent, I am referring to knowing how to properly solder (NO CRIMP CONNECTORS) and identify pin #'s within connectors.

Have another one to do for a friend in the next few days. Will try to take some photos during the steps and post up a how to if anyone is interested.
