Re: TIPM Recall

Just got mine back - seems to be working well. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

They didn't replace the TIPM - just did the fuel relay recall repair. No cost, fortunately... and Chrysler paid the $280 Enterprise bill. No complaints here... so long as the repair fixes the problem.

What did they say they did to it?

My Durango died at 52,000mi. I ended up getting it fixed at a computer shop of all places. It was kind of expensive ($269) but they have done other board level repairs for me in the past and they are like 5 miles from my house.
TIPM Repair
They also said it could possibly break again in 50k mi, they really weren't sure- not great news but at least they were up front with me..

I just learned of the $20 jumper fix on this thread- if it pukes again I'll do that.

Stinks because my old 2002 GC still runs like a champ w/ 220k mi.

Re: TIPM Recall

Just got the P54 recall notice in the mail - states my Jeep could stall and crash and there is no replacement part available. Called recall customer service & my dealer - no part available and no time frame as when they will be - is this for real? My engine my stop while I am driving around my 9 week old baby? Is this for real?

Re: TIPM Recall

Good morning! Seeking information about TIPM's in 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees - are they the same as those originally used in the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokees? I own a 2011 JGC and already had the fuel relay bypass recall service performed - looking at purchasing another for my wife - either a 2014 or 2015 - but wondering if I can expect the same faulty part or if they re-designed it in the 2014 or 2015 models. Any help greatly appreciated!

Re: TIPM Recall

Ok. I was totally ignorant about the problem until Friday...when my 2011 Jeep GC started exhibiting the problem (not starting). Luckily we managed to get it started and drove the many miles (slightly white knuckle and without stopping) to our very accommodating Jeep dealer (who thankfully gave us a loaner). He diagnosed it this morning (and confirmed it is under recall) and has the new revision TIPM coming tomorrow to be installed. We're under max care so we are covered except for the 100 buck fee. The TIPM replacement probably won't be covered by the recall since it isn't their preferred solution. But he wants to also put in the relay hack at some point in the future (right now the fuel-pump "external" relay hack is on backorder). My question is: What do you folks think? Do I need the fuel pump relay hack if I get the new TIPM?

Recieved my recall notice in the mail today........ugh. With this now being the third recall in the past six months I've been notified of just makes me a little nervous.

I am sending along info from this site, so dealer has an idea what is wrong with the GC.
Jeep was at dealer for a week. They contacted Chrysler with the Star Case number and Chrysler approved fixing it. Of course the Jeep started and I didn't have to call AAA.

Dealer made the fuel pump overlay harness, since there is a nationwide backorder. They used the following parts:
68217670AA Holder Fuse
032349 Fuse
032420 Fuse Holder
930103 Pigtail
68142156AA Wiring 4 Way

Hopefully this takes care of the problem, as we towing our Challenger to NJ Thursday morning for a race.

Re: TIPM Recall

we took my friends 2011 GC this morning for the same problem (not starting) after them having the car all day they called him up at 5 PM and told him that Jeep does not have a fix for it yet and if he wants they can do the hack and it will be covered if that the fix from Jeep, but if Jeep has a different fix they may not reimburse him for the work. I was thinking if they just use a different part number then they may not cover the wiring hack. Stuff like this makes me think if I should get a new jeep my 01 GC is still running with 240 K +

Re: TIPM Recall

I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has had trouble starting from the first time occasionally. A week ago I took it to the dealer to do the Fuel Pump Relay to fix this issue. After this fuel pump was installed this problem happened twice. Has anyone else done this and still experience the no start issue?

Re: TIPM Recall

The TIPM recall does more than fix the fuel pump relay issue. There are many issues associated with the TIPM, which the most famous is the fuel pump relay.

I traded my 2011 GC Limited in Sept. for a Cherokee Limited, however the paperwork hasn't caught up as I keep getting the recall notices. The GC was a nice vehicle but I love the Cherokee Limited even more.

Just my $.02 worth.
