Re: TIPM Recall

Just relaying information that I've read concerning the class action lawsuit's being filed and the issues with the TIPM's that's all.

A Defective TIPM Is Causing Dangerous Power Problems in Chrysler Vehicles

Chrysler Sued Over Stalling Vehicles, Long Wait for Parts | CarComplaints.com

Your last explanation of the issue makes more sense and I appreciate your reply. As I have found, this forum is the most comprehensive in the discussion of issues and fixes. I have read other forums that just rant and offer no reasonable resolution.

All of these issues are due to a faulty internal fuel pump relay found in the TIPM. Thats all, nothing else!

Preach it!

Hopefully not, though hope is not a strategy.

That would be an unbelievably poor outcome, ie: Let's keep knowingly installing faulty TIPM's/fuel relays (as we have since 2007), cause the polish-engineering wiring workaround won't slow us down much. We're after all, selling a ton of JGC's.

This is some real BS. These jeep dealerships don't even have a clue when there getting the parts to fix this recall problem. .SMDH # BS

Re: TIPM Recall

Hi All,

Just thought I'd share some images of what the Relay by-pass looks like. While it has been keeping my Jeep up and running as I have had zero starting issues since the by-pass was performed, I am not happy with just a "by-pass".

It looks like a hack job and I worry of long term issues, water encroachment, dirt, and other environmental impacts.

I hope that Chrysler does right by it's customers and replaces the TIPM on all vehicles while also removing the by-pass on those that had it installed. All customers should be fully reimbursed for any out of pocket expenses they had as well.

Her are the pictures of what the by pass looks like on my WK2:

ps, it seems as my mileage went down a little as well but I am still tracking this. It also did not solve the "fish bite" issue. I'll have to ask them to apply the appropriate TSB after I look through the forum again.

Re: TIPM Recall

Eww. The tech could have done a better job with a bit of wire loom. On the bright side, the connector on the bottom of the relay is insulated quite well. I only hope they soldered and heat shrinked the added connections under the TIPM.

Re: TIPM Recall

I purchased my Jeep used as well.
I went to the Mopar Owner Connect website and registered my WK2 there then called Chrylser and they where more than happy to list me as the current owner and started sending me the recall notices. The Owner Connect site also lists any campaigns currently due on your vehicle.

Not sure about the reimbursement for the TIPM, we can all only hope that Chrysler/Fiat will do the correct thing.

You should still get recall notices. If you don't - register with Chrysler, they may not yet have an information that you are new owner. Even if your Jeep was bought used you are still eligible for all of them to be done at no cost to you by any Chrysler dealer.

Recall notice for this specific issue that I received explicitly mentioned that you will be reimbursed if you already had this done and paid out of your pocket.

"Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is P54."

"If you have already experienced this condition and have paid to have it repaired, please send your original receipts and/or other adequate proof of payment to the following address for reimbursement:

Chrysler Customer Assistance,
P.O. Box 21-8007,
Auburn Hills, MI 48321-8007,
Attention: Reimbursement.

Once we receive and verify the required documents, reimbursements will be sent to you within 60 days."

Re: TIPM Recall

I'm just going to throw in a caveat to the above "reimbursement" comment. I've had the relay put in prior to the recall, when I contacted Chrysler Canada they indicates I still need to go in to the dealership to ensure the exact same process indicated in the recall was followed. Only once this re-check is completed will I be eligible for reimbursement.

So we all have to wait for the parts regardless of whether you've had the job done already if you're looking for reimbursement. I can post the email if you'd like.

I don't doubt your experience. I just posted the part of recall notice I received in US. I have not had that recall done. Recall notice also says that parts are currently not available.
