Yeah, if it's just front and rear diffs, and the transfer case I'll have to look at the cost of the fluids to see if I should scramble underneath and do it myself.

Decarb? Is that necessary? Doesn't one just bag the crap out of their truck to do that?

Do it yourself. It only takes an hour, and the material cost is only around $170. I have a DIY posted here.
DIY- 2011 Differential Service/ Fluid Change
The transfer case is even easier and costs about $20.
The decarb is a money maker for the dealer. Basically shooting solvent through the intake. If you look in your owners manual it most likely says explicitly NOT to do it.

Will be calling AAA tomorrow to jump the battery. If it is not the battrery, wonder if the dealer messed something up to cause a no start.
Turned out the battery died. AAA jumped it, but said I need new battery. AAA did not have the replacement battery, and couldn't guarantee car would start again following morning. Was in a jam so had to drive to dealer (Ugh!). Would you believe $275. for batttery and $75. to install! Rip-off, but I was in and out in about an hour. They wanted to do all kinds of diagnostic testing (can't imagine what that would have cost), but I said no, just install the battery.

Looked on-line afterwards and found battery for about $200. Wow, didn't think a battery could cost that much. 2011 GC Overland with Hemi.

Has anyone had their money refunded yet? I had my tipm replaced before the p54 recall came out now they are going to do the recall and I just contacted Chrysler about getting my $1000 back
Will it happen?

Why wouldn't it? Im still waiting for my cheque and am in the same position. I never doubted I wouldn't get reimbursed, isn't that the whole point of the recall process, Chrysler admitting fault and fixing or reimbursing those who've had the repair?

I just submitted for reimbursement a week ago, as i paid $150 MaxCare warranty deductible to get the relay fix done a couple of months ago, well before the recall. I assume the recall prescribes the exact same external relay fix as what i had done under the star case?

Re: TIPM Recall

I hope it's fast.
The way the service people said it just give them a call and "hopefully they'll reimburse you" i faxed my receipt so I hope it goes good they are still going to do the p54 recall so hopefully I don't have to deal with any problems in the future

Re: TIPM Recall

Hello everyone,

Just had my 2011 JGC Overland 5.7 in for service. "Groaning noise when running, especially cold plus the P54 recall. Noise was from power steering rack. Dealer quoted $1600 to fix. Declined and had them perform the recall service. Had another shop replace the power steering rack and service the diffs and transfer case. $500 cheaper than the dealer. Now that I have the Jeep back I have a "shudder" when driving at speed. Hard to explain, no check engine lights, does not stall. Just a periodic vibration and it is getting worse. Has anyone else seen this after the P54 recall service?

Thanks,

David

Re: TIPM Recall

Cloud:

Mine just calls for an 800 CCA H7 battery but Mopar adds their own label and markup to become a BBAH7800AA. Does look like it is an AGM.

I usually buy batteries at Sam's "Duracell AGM Automotive Battery - Group Size 94R (H7) $ 169.52"

Doesn't an Overland have a power passenger seat ?

ps batteries did jump about 40% in the last year or so.

Re: TIPM Recall

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum.

I also had the P54 fix and have been having the "fishbite" issue. I wonder if the dealership reflashed the ECM back to the original settings. My 2011 Overland drove like crap the first couple of days. It has been better but the pulsing/surge type feeling is still there at certain speeds.

Getting ready to call Chrysler and tell them I wanted fixed.

Re: TIPM Recall

FalconST,

Thanks for your response. I wonder how many others will see this behavior? I took the GC to the dealer today and received the normal, crappy service. Tires out of balance, wrong fluid used in transmission, etc. etc. Tried to claim that the power steering rack replacement performed by another mechanic used non-mopar parts. Called that mechanic and produced proof that the parts were actually purchased from the dealership. The service dept. then admitted that the parts were Mopar but that the system wasn't flushed when the parts were replaced. My mechanic showed that he had flushed the system and replaced the fluid. Anyway, par for the course with these guys.

Transmission "guy" was out today and they'd have to keep the vehicle until tomorrow so that he could further diagnose. They were able to duplicate the issue. I declined to leave it.

They don't seem to care that the issue only started after the P54 recall service was performed.

The only other thing they did last week was replace the VVT oil solenoid and perform a CAM crank relearn. Could this be the source of the shudder?

Mileage is down about 2 mpg.

Suggestions? I'm about done with this dealership. I have one other option in town. Contact Chrysler directly?

If anyone else is having the issue let me know as it will provide me more ammo.

Thanks,

David

Re: TIPM Recall

I just had mine done, and it looks exactly like the picture you posted. A very professional job. Personally I prefer discreet components and wireing, over circuit boards. New circuit boards can introduce new problems. This fixes the problem at hand.
