Re: TIPM Recall

I'm getting this recall taken care of on Monday morning. My jeep stalled for the first time the same day I received the pre-recall letter. And 5 more times between then and getting the official letter. Then it stopped happening and I kind of forgot about it. Stalled while pulling into Meijer yesterday and I almost got rear ended. Luckily they had the part in stock!

Re: TIPM Recall

On a side note, after reading through all these pages. It blows my mind that there are people on here that have over twice the mileage I do for a 2011 JGC, I'll hit 45K this week. Where do you people go???

Will I have to have this new TSB completed since I have a whole new TIPM or is thread outside the new TIPM and will have to be replaced?
Who did you contact at Chrysler? I had my TIPM replaced a year or so ago and did not know they would reimburse me.

Re: TIPM Recall

My wk2 is having a problem with the push/start button. It will not start until I pop out the button and put it right back in. And then when I want to turn the car off, I have to pop out the button again and put it right back in. The key will work every time though. Any ideas?

This issue will happen to YOU, it can't be avoided if you own a 2011~2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee!
How would you get them to swap it out if it is not displaying any symptoms?

Re: TIPM Recall

A good service advisor relationship would help tremendously. I had my WK2 towed to two different dealers, still under warrantee on Jeeps dime, and they couldn't replicate the problem.

Finally after the third tow to yet another Jeep dealership where my parts guy talked to the service manager for me, they agreed to let parts order the part, (I provided the new Mopar TIPM part number) and they installed it the day it arrived. This is a known issue by now, you should be able to tell them what's wrong and insist on a new TIPM if you still have warrantee time left.

Re: TIPM Recall

Sorry I thought you were saying just go get it replaced if still under warranty even if you don't have an issue.

That's EXACTLY what I'm saying!

This issue will happen to EVERYONE eventually!

Whatever it takes, have it towed and let them not be able to replicate the issue after a couple of times they will replace the under warrantee TIPM.....
IF YOU INSIST, RELENTLESSLY OVER & OVER they will do it. They have to do it or you will be walking sooner or later.

And if you don't you'll regret not having it done!!!!

TIPM Recall

I don't disagree that it's a huge issue but getting a part that expensive to be replaced without any symptom? You had the symptom but they couldn't duplicate it. Sounds like it's a mute point anyway if they are headed down the road of a recall anyway.

Re: TIPM Recall

So I'm a newby to the group and I thank you guys for contributing to this forum, I have spent many hours reading through the forum and threads and I'm learning a GREAT deal!

I purchased a 2011 JGC/Laredo in Dec 2014, and just now learning there was a TIPM recall. Called the dealer today to set up an appointment and will drop it off this Monday morning 3/30/15 @ 9am. He advised me he would need the vehicle 24-48 hours so I'm hoping/praying for a smooth experience. It appears they all should be aware of the recall and the correct/proper fix with no hassle/haggle since my understanding is the original recall was back in sept 2014 or Oct 2014. I will post an update as we progress along.

I think I gather from the threads and correct me if I'm wrong but since the recall was released prior to my purchase, I should not have any out-of-pockets expenses and both parts and labor are covered by the recall, is that correct?

Again thank you all who contribute to this forum, it's much needed.
