Re: TIPM Recall

Thank you @ Ynotracing, I thought so but wasn't sure, I've owned multiple vehicles over the past 28 years and have never had to deal with a dealer on a recall or any other MAJOR work, therefore I'm trying to arm myself with knowledge as to not suffer the okie-doke. I understand the dealers are about making money and quotas and if they sniff out you have no clue they go in for the pounce (I understand not are dealers are shady) but thanks again for that reassurance!!

Re: TIPM Recall

My dealer wouldn't replace mine I had to to argue for 30min about how unsafe it was. I made the analogy of my kids in the back and it kills on the freeway and we wreck I'm gonna own this place. They then said parts on order heres your loaner.

Re: TIPM Recall

Wow, can't believe they would push back, how unfortunate. It would appear you should never have to argue your case when there is a recall. A recall should speak for itself!

The service writer was a pain, once I went above him it wasn't so bad but he insisted on arguing with me lol he lost.

I purchased a 2011 JGC/Laredo in Dec 2014, and just now learning there was a TIPM recall. Called the dealer today to set up an appointment and will drop it off this Monday morning 3/30/15 @ 9am. He advised me he would need the vehicle 24-48 hours so I'm hoping/praying for a smooth experience. It appears they all should be aware of the recall and the correct/proper fix with no hassle/haggle since my understanding is the original recall was back in sept 2014 or Oct 2014. I will post an update as we progress along.

I think I gather from the threads and correct me if I'm wrong but since the recall was released prior to my purchase, I should not have any out-of-pockets expenses and both parts and labor are covered by the recall, is that correct?

Again thank you all who contribute to this forum, it's much needed.

Re: TIPM Recall

24 to 48 hours? I arrived at my dealer at 8:00am and was out by 9:20am... and that's addressing both the fuel pump relay and sun visor recalls.

I'm guessing all they're going to do is install the external relay if they follow Chrysler's official recall guidelines.

I had the relay recall done on 12/26/14 to my '11 Laredo X and haven't had one bit of trouble with it.

Let us know what they do and how it goes!

Re: TIPM Recall

Wow, I'm hoping they get to it much sooner than 24-48 hours. Supposedly he is booked this Mon and Tues and states he'll get to it soon as he possibly can, I intend to be stern yet not rudely aggressive since I'm at their mercy. I'm looking to them to be a dependable and professional dealership versus a shady stealership.

Re: TIPM Recall

I'm soooooo happy to report they have completed the TIPM recall work on my GC.
Was originally told they would need 24-48 hours to look at it due to being backed up. Dropped it off at 9:00am and received a call it was ready at 1:00pm. I was ecstatic being that I was having withdrawals knowing my Jeep wasn't readily available for instant access in my garage. They completed the bass and did not replace the module which I'm ok with. Obviously if there are any issues I will make contact with the dealer to repair any issues and replace the module.

Now of course they wouldn't be a dealership if they didn't find additional work that needs to be performed....$3660 worth...we'll have to look at that a lil later while I review my warranty, I'm certain it all has to be covered under warranty, I purchased my 2011 in December 2014 so my baby is only 3 1/2 months new to me.

However so glad to have BabyBoy back in my life even if only gone for a few hours!
