My stealership says Jeep won't pick it up if it does not stall while they have it. This is really making my blood boil.
Maxcare warranty pays for it for me.

Re: TIPM Recall

Had the recall done a few months ago and everything seemed fine until the other day. Apparently the Jeep isn't a race car and can't handle hard braking off a freeway and immediately making a hard right turn cause that stalled the vehicle. That's how I used to stall it before the recall work was done and thought I was in the clear, then the stall happened. I'm really disappointed and now I'm back in the mode of worrying each time I brake hard and need to make a right turn, especially on an off/on ramp off the freeway.

My dealer gave me a loaner, Chrysler 200c with 2200 miles on it. Have had it for two weeks now.
I'm turing it back in on Monday, the dealer has not been able to make the Jeep stall once. They are giving it back to me along with a data recorder, so that I can make it stall and they can see what's going on.

Re: TIPM Recall

My dealer drove my Jeep home this weekend and it stalled on him twice in one day, data recorder attached. I'm still in the 200c (fantastic fuel mileage, btw). Stay tuned...

Re: TIPM Recall

Everyone above is talking about stalls I am glad mine is not doing that. Mine does not start some times. I hit the push to start it just cranks and cranks and wont start .

My Recall was done where they put that Bypass starter relay in or whatever they did and it still would not start one day just cranked and cranked for 2 times I gave up and just pushed remote start button then it started. That recall sure didn't fix it.

If the problem isn't resolved inform your dealer and they should make it right.
I had the relay bypass performed on my 11' JGC. Prior to the install experienced the same as you....engine turning over but didn't start. After the relay was installed I never had any problems. Hope you get this fixed

Re: TIPM Recall

Just wanted to give an update. Yesterday was the 4th monday that my dealer has had my JGC. They are sending data from the recorder to the Jeep STAR tech every time my vehicle stalls, then they get feedback to swap a part or flash the ecu or something like that. I know the first part they swapped out was the throttle body, jeep still stalled. The part they swapped last week was the crank sensor, no stall yet as of yesterday afternoon. They are convinced it's this sensor. They are going to keep the car and continue driving it until Thursday/Friday and see what happens. If there is no stall, I have to pay for the part and labor since it's not due to the recall, but that's it, so about 300 bucks total or something like that. Data will be collected by FCA and they will see how prevalent this potential new issue is. If the Jeep stalls again, we start over. Corporate is adamant that this issue has nothing to do with the TIPM, even though the symptoms are identical. I'm just letting them do their thing, and staying out of the way.
I don't even care anymore, just want my big boy car back. This Chrysler 200 did get 35mpg on a work trip I drove last week though...

Re: TIPM Recall

It looks like the crank position sensor is a pretty easy change. The part is $20 or so. I think I might just do it myself and see what happens. Question, when your Jeep stalls does it just crank and crank without starting the next time you push the button to start? I typically push it again right after it stalls without my foot on the brake. Then I push it again and it starts right up.

Re: TIPM Recall

Got my JGC back today. The crank sensor has been replaced and the vehicle has not stalled for about two weeks. I will be putting a lot of miles on the Jeep in the next week, and they went me home with a data recorder to use for a few weeks in case the stalling returns. If any of you are experiencing engine stalls before and/or after having the TIPM recall performed, you may want to have your dealer investigate the crank sensor. Who knows, this may be the original culprit of the stalling issue. The symptoms are identical for what the recall was issued for in the first place. Pretty crazy that two totally different parts would do the exact same thing.

Buckeye, my jeep always started up on the first press of the start button after stalling. I can remember in the past two instances of where the jeep started and immediately stalled from a cold start, at the time figuring I may not have held the button long enough. This sensor may have been the issue.

Great news for you! Fingers crossed no stalls.
