Unfortunately Chrysler plans on a real BS "fix" for this recall, by jumping the faulty internal fuel pump relay in your bad TIPM with an externally wired one. You don't get the new redesigned TIMP that actually fixes the issue the right way!

These new TIPM's just became available recently, from a new supplier, different than the supplier who made the original faulty TIPM's.

The new TIPM OEM Chrysler part #'s are;

Mopar part # 68244870AA for 5.7L V8's.
MSRP for this new TIPM Kit is $869.00/Dealer Cost $646.00

Mopar part # 68244852AA for 3.6L V6's.
MSRP for this new TIPM Kit is $864.00/Dealer Cost $645.00

Re: TIPM Recall

2011 WK2 owner

I had my old TIPM replaced a couple of months ago. I complained all the way up the chain until I got the approval from Chrysler to replace it ($1,100) even though it was out of warranty. I had to write check to the dealer and Chrysler mailed a check to my house for the reimbursement.

Will I have to have this new TSB completed since I have a whole new TIPM or is thread outside the new TIPM and will have to be replaced?

Re: TIPM Recall

Went through this last summer with my '11 Durango Citadel Hemi w/51k miles. We had first noticed the starting issue when it was still under warranty (35k miles), but the dealership never found it faulty. Fought with mother Chrysler until they agreed to pay for the replacement TIPM, but I still got stuck with the labor. Now it looks like I will be submitting an expense report to get reimbursed. Good for Chrysler to finally own this.

I do have the same question about whether this recall is for ALL TIPMs, or just the original TIPM. We haven't seen anything funny with this one and we're approaching 75k miles now, but I suspect it may start acting up next summer if the timing is similar.

You may be right! Check your invoice for the actual TIPM part # your had installed to replace the faulty OEM TIPM. Post it here and I may be able to give you more information on it. When was it actually replaced? You may have gotten a replacement TIMP that is destined to fail like the original OEM TIPM.

The new redesigned TIPM's Chrysler now has in the parts pipeline haven't been available for very long, not more than a few weeks my parts guy tells me.

Unfortunately my invoice does not show the TIPM part number, but I do recall a conversation with my service manager that the new TIPM had a new Chrysler part number, but we just assumed it was because it came from a new vendor (according to the Chrysler case advisor). It was replaced October 2013. I wonder if the TIPM part number is easy to locate on the module?

Re: TIPM Recall

Recall is not providing a new TIPM: "Chrysler will conduct a voluntary safety recall to install a new, more robust fuel pump relay, which will be installed external to the TIPM-7." Just a new relay. If that is all it needs...

Also "The scope has been determined based on field data inputs and engineering analysis to be all 2011 3.6L and 5.7L WK and WD vehicles".

Guess that means 2012 and later have a redesign.

Just got approved at my dealership to get the fix done for free in advance of the official start of the recall. If it fixes the problem I don't need the new TIPM. Time will tell.

Why any chance do you know if they will refund people who had their TIPM replaced?

If they are using the same search mechanism as the Jeep Owner's Connect web site I'm not surprised. I logged on today to see if the TIPM Recall has shown up for my '11 and NO RECALLS were listed for my '11 or '14. I know both of them have the brake booster and the sun visor wiring recall outstanding but the site was showing NOTHING FOUND for both jeeps.
