Tips on how to ask Chrysler to buy buck the Jeep?

I think I've had it with this Jeep. You can read the whole story here:
Issues with ACC

But long story short: some module that controls airbags failed, the part is on back order until July 25 (maybe if I'm lucky will get it earlier). The car is stuck at the dealer as it is unsafe to drive. Dealer is not offering comparable loner vehicle. I have MAX Care warranty and that covers 5 days of rental for $35 per day which in NYC will not even get me a car (maybe a bicycle share).

Called Jeep/Chrysler directly and spoke with the representative but that didn't do much ... wait and see and take $35/day allowance for rental for Chevy Aveo or comparable.

Anyway the car has been in the shop for tranny radiio problems( 4 days), another trip for the same above (2 days), 1 day for recall, and has still 1 pending recall. Now I'm out again since Saturday (4 days) just to diagnose the issue and probably until July to get the part.

Do I need to have a lawyer in order for the Chrysler to buy it back. It is obviously a lemon. Had more issues with it over the year than I had with my 13 year old Nissan Pathfinder. I'm quite certain that the car will be in the shop for 30+ days now. It is just barely 1 year old and has 10K miles. Love the truck but with 18 month old kid in the house I have enough headaches already. I'm questioning my sanity as I would love to get back into Jeep but this time with MY 2015 hopefully w/o all the issues...

ANY TIPS ON THE PROCESS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED?

Sorry for the long rant ... having a bad week.

Re: Tips on how to ask Chrysler to buy buck the Jeep?

in order to get them to buy back, it needs to be in the shop for the same problem at least 4 times... I know this because I was just without mine for 10 days. It will be hard to get them to do it, oh yeah.. and they will buy it back IF your purchase another Chrysler product. Side note, get in touch with the Jeep resolution department and tell them you deserve some sort of compensation since you are paying for a vehicle that you cant drive (I did). Now, if its been in the shop that long, you may be able to pursue the lemon law (need to look it up)

as far as the rental... That stinks, my dealer has twice now paid for the rental for me. If you tell the rental car place what you have, maybe they will help you out.

Dont let this go, continue to call and pressure Chrysler. Especially since you cant even drive it!
When I first called, the guy I spoke to said dont give up, if you hit a dead end at one road, there are other departments. (i called Customer service)

Good luck!

Love the Jeep so much that I would be willing to take my chances with 2015 Jeep GC ... hopefully with less issues ... would probably consider a diesel as it was not yet available when I ordered my current Jeep.

It really sux to have all those issues but what pisses me really off is that Jeep/Chrysler is not willing to stand behind the product and make it right! Given the fact that I've been w/o a car for almost a week (again) now they should at least offer me a comparable loner (not a smallest rental possible and work with them to get reimbursed). If they did I wouldn't be probably writing this, would just probably wait and see.

Triple sux as this is actually my vacation week and was planning to take my family on a camping trip. Thank You Jeep!

If you would consider buying a replacement, is your dealer one of the helpful types that might be willing to go to bat for you with FCA?

They can be a powerful ally if there is money to be had.

Lemon law it if possible, it exists to protect the consumer from the exact bullshit that Chrysler is pulling. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip.

Unfortunately, in NYC dealing with dealers is like dealing with drug dealers. They want you to buy what they have for the price that they want. If you want something that is not on their lot they will convince you otherwise. If you still refuse they nag you until you give up.

With plenty of 2014 on the lots and 2015 probably few weeks away they are under a lot of pressure to SELL, SELL, SELL whatever they have in stock. Honestly not interested for two reasons:

- want exactly what I have (model, options, color black/indigo). For 50K car will not compromise on anything!

- If I'm succesfull at getting my money back there is no way I will buy another 2014.

I'm having hard time understanding how ANY part on current model year can be on backorder for 2 months. They are building thousands of those cars and we are not talking about 10 year old car.

Unless there is some systematic issue with this part and they are pulling it off the shelves. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a 3rd recall in one year for this issue. At the end we are talking safety issue. I was forced to drive my car for 5 hours home with failed airbags. What if I got myself into an accident?

Wonder if this has anything to do with this. Maybe supplier is stretched thin:

Start studying your state lemon law. That's what I did. When I contacted Chrysler about my 98 they only asked me one question... do you want your money back or a new Jeep?

Re: Tips on how to ask Chrysler to buy buck the Jeep?

is it a lease or own?

If own, I would even tell them you are simply going to take it to another dealer for trade in. They should listen and take action, unless they want your 600 payment to go to another dealer in the area.

its because the newest ones dont have the problem, and to fix the less newer ones (like the early 2014's) they are simply putting a water "shield" over it.
that probably is whats on backorder.

I would drive out of NYC and find a diff dealer asap... and I would call and complain to chrylser about the dealership... AND I would look up the lemon law and push that too

Re: Tips on how to ask Chrysler to buy buck the Jeep?

Nightmare continues ... Car will be in the dealership for another week. Called Jeep Chrysler helpline and I'm hopeless... They don't offer loaners, they offered 5 day rental for Chevy Spark or similar car (economy). Not happy as the car will be at least out of service for 2 weeks so that doesn't even cover the whole time. Pretty much stuck w/o a car right now.

They didn't even offer appology ... Never again ...

Finally decided to notify the point Atty for Chrysler re: the MA lemon law. Got all the info from the Attorney General's website and sent the certified mail today. My 14 GC has been in and out of the shop 16 days over the last year. Over 4 times just regarding the transmission and still is not fixed.

Prior to that I posted a complaint on the NHSTA website and also sent a copy to the contact e-mail for Chrysler. Next day I got an e-mail from Chrysler indicating that due to the nature of my concern my case has been escalated for further review and a rep will contact me within 1 day. That never happened, so I called and spoke to a rep who was able to pull up my case and saw the extensive repair history. She indicated she will contact the rep in that department and to let them know I need a call ASAP. No call was ever received from them. Another call will be made on Monday and this time I will explain that due to the poor quality of my vehicle and the lack of following through from the Chrysler staff I decided to look into what my state can do to assist me with this mess and a letter has been mailed to their legal department explaining the Lemon Law in MA and how my vehicle is qualified for either replacement or reimbursement. I have had it.
