Tire pressure

Those of you with the Laredo E with the 17" wheels and tires, what tire pressure are you running?

Re: Tire pressure

Thanks, I checked the drivers door the other day and it says 33 psi front and rear. Factory set them to 38 psi which I thought rode a bit hard so I aired them down to 34. I'll see how it rides to work tomorrow.

Re: Tire pressure

Better gas mileage at higher pressures, less rolling resistance

Re: Tire pressure

Most dealerships will air the up 4 PSI when it starts getting cold out side. Because most people can't do there own stuff. also factory an most tire shops will put tires at max psi. Not sure what your max is

Re: Tire pressure

Exactly, but I would rather have a softer ride than to gain 1 mpg (if that) with more than the recommended psi.

I have yet to take delivery of a new vehicle in which the tire pressures were not way out of whack. Pressures are supposed to be checked/set during the pre-delivery process but for some reason it's very uncommon for dealers to set the pressures correctly.

Re: Tire pressure

I think the tire pressure variance is more due to inaccurate gauges and sloppy technique by the dealers (or not checking pressures at all) than something deliberate. Perhaps the factory inflates tires to near max to ensure good tire beading on the wheel and assume the dealers will diligently check them? Safer to err on the high end within max pressure limits than to be under-inflated.
