Re: Tire vibration??

Or.... its not the tires at all... could it be an alignment issue? Could it be caused by some other rotating piece? I just don't know.

Re: Tire vibration??

I had the tires road force balanced and rotated. I drove it about 10 miles on the highway and it seems to about 90 percent gone. I will have to wait and see if it stays gone. They said they were all out of balance anywhere from a half to 1 once. That is also what I heard the last time I had them balanced.

Re: Tire vibration??

We just picked up a Certified 2011 GC Limited with 20" and Yokahma tires. Have the same problem. We had to take it back in for the #2 valve seat issue with the check engine light. They test drove it and put it on the alignment rack. No issues were found.

I'm more familiar with the old XJ suspensions and this Arm design is somewhat new to me.

However this is driving me nuts. I reminds me of the start of death wabble but its not. Its almost like something is loose.

I was experiencing a little vibration in the steering wheel recently, after I replaced the tires, got a balance and alignment and had the rotors turned the vibration is totally gone.

I've only seen vibration when the tires get worn but at this point the problem seems to be solved.

Re: Tire vibration??

Gone to the dealer twice and they cant find anything. Once they told me that the air pressure in one of the front tires was to high.

not sure what to do.

Re: Tire vibration??

Ok I think I may have found my issue. The front right Strut is wet or leaking around the inside of the boot/ dust cover. The right one however isn't. Taking it back to dealer on Monday.

Re: Tire vibration??

I have the same problem. I had the tires balanced, vibration is better. Let me know what fixes yours.

Mine also steers to the right on its own under accel. Most likely a tire problem.

Re: Tire vibration??

Ok guys got it fixed. I have 61000 miles on the Jeep bought it used certified. The left front strut was leaking damp wetness around the seal. The dealer replaced the front struts and isolators. They also rotated the tires.

Just took it on the 6 hour trip after the repairs were done and no more issues.

speeds 70 to 80 mph and it was smooth also I noticed that road noise was cut down may be due to the rotate or in fact that the struts were keeping the rubber to the road better. Also breaking is far far better.

Re: Tire vibration??

I am experiencing the vibration at 11K in the steering wheel of my 2012 Overland Summit also, I replaced the 20" OEM wheels with replica 20"x9 SRT8 wheels, balanced all four wheels and the vibration is still there. I have been to the dealer once and they are blaming the non OEM wheels. I am about to go through the same repetitious dealer route as all of you did. Are there any hard core facts written on this issue anywhere before they make me do a road force test. Is it necessary??? I am going nuts with this problem.

Re: Tire vibration??

guys, same issue here on a 14 with 1200 miles. I took it in today, they road force balanced all 4, stated they all were within spec. They filed a STAR case with Chrysler on it, Chrysler said everything seemed normal. We took another 14 for ride with 20" wheels, it did the same vibration. We have a 2012 durango with the 20" wheels and GY Forteras and that doesn't have any vibration. I really think it is the tires, you get a good set, and there are bad sets. The tech I was on the ride with said that is likely true, I can pursue a warranty with Good Year. Seems crazy many do this and we are told - normal. My $20K car with 18" and 35 series tires doesn't have a vibration. I may try lowering the PSI, I believe it was currently set at 39PSI cold.

Re: Tire vibration??

Guys check your struts and the isolators. If one of the two are weak its going to cause your problems. I don't think it rims or tires.

Re: Tire vibration??

My 2014 GC Limited 4x4 with 20" wheels vibrates a little at 65 mph...going to take it back to the dealership to have them re-balance the tires.
